Publisher's summary

Zarek's Point of View:

Dark-Hunter: A soulless guardian who stands between mankind and those who would see mankind destroyed. Yeah, right. The only part of that Code of Honor I got was eternity and solitude.

Insanity: A condition many say I suffer from after being alone for so long. But I don't suffer from my insanity-I enjoy every minute of it.

Trust: I can't trust anyone...not even myself. The only thing I trust in is my ability to do the wrong thing in any situation and to hurt anyone who gets in my way.

Truth: I endured a lifetime as a Roman slave, and 900 years as an exiled Dark-Hunter. Now I'm tired of enduring. I want the truth about what happened the night I was exiled-I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Astrid (Greek, meaning star): An exceptional woman who can see straight to the truth. Brave and strong, she is a point of light in the darkness. She touches me and I tremble. She smiles and my cold heart shatters.

Zarek: They say even the most damned man can be forgiven. I never believed that until the night Astrid opened her door to me and made this feral beast want to be human again. Made me want to love and be loved. But how can an ex-slave whose soul is owned by a Greek goddess ever dream of touching, let alone holding, a fiery star?

Love in vein: listen to another Dark-Hunter novel.

"In turns angst-filled and laugh-out-loud funny, her latest once again delivers a sensual, fast-paced read with a hero who is definitely worth the risk." ( Booklist)

Another wonderful Dark-Hunter story

Who was your favorite character and why?

Zarek, you just feel so sorry for him. From the very beginning, even when he is in his 'bad-ass' mode; you know that there is a very sad story behind his anger.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Can a Dark-Hunter truely be judged as innocent, or is it too late for Zarek.

Any additional comments?

As always, I love the interplay between Asheron and Artemis. Sometimes, I don't know which to feel sorry for.

Heart breaking

Any additional comments?

From the very beginning this book was so emotionally raw and moving. My heart broke over and over again for Zarek. Yet there were parts when laughter brought tears to my eyes :) Sundown is my new favorite Dark Hunter!

great book

awesome book in the story line. my only issue is the mispronunciation of words...if you have the dark hunters companion book you learn these words and then to hear them said wrong can be off putting. But the story more than makes up for it.

I come back to this story over and over again! Zarek is such a mysterious character in the previous book and in this book you get to find out all of his story and his strength.

One of my favorites

I absolutely love this book. It's one of my favorites out of the series along with Ach's book. I haven't read them since Ach's book came out so I can't say what my other favorites are. I just remember this and Ach's.
This is also my first time listening to the series and I quite loved this narrator!

A thousand time better than the first two!

If you struggled through the first two because the narrator you will want to give this series one more chance. Fred Berman brought life into these characters the prior narrator did not. It was truly amazing.

This story was a bit different than the first, focusing on the tormented soul Zarek....why he is who he is and how all that changes. The story stays in Alaska, and while there is still some action and danger, it's mostly a narrative on self discovery and learning to trust. I love that about this book, it was a nice change. Acheron and Artemis also play main roles...and I just love Acherons daemon Simi. She cracks me up! I accidentally listened to book 5 first, thinking it was the warehunter spin off, and loved it....so I'm thinking this series can only get better.

Definitely worth a credit!
