The attraction was instant...and impossible.
Because he ruled his empire from glass towers high above the vibrancy of her world, and coming too close to hers was risky business. But she was a woman who dared to dream, and she had dreams big enough for them both.

"There's no mystery why Roberts is a best-selling author. She delivers the goods with panache and wit." (Publishers Weekly)
This is the second in a quartet of books, each of which I enjoyed enough to re-read them. I've bought both of the available books as they've come out, and I'm not sorry, but the narration is terrible. Marie Caliendo has a sweet little girl voice, and the only characther it does justice to is a southern belle type in The Last Honest Woman. The characters in these books are survivors, but they end up sounding like ten-year-olds. That goes for male and female, young and old. I can't say don't buy this, the story is worth hearing. I just don't know how I would have felt if this were my introduction to the stories instead of a review.
The reader made Maddie sound like such and air headed child. Other than that, it was a good book. I purchased the whole 4 book set and this was the only one she annoyed me in.
I realized that Maddie was supposed to be 'bubbly' but YIKES!!! It was grating.
I like this wonderful romance. The characters are fun and interesting. I like Nora Roberts books and wondered if these being some of her earlier work, if it was going to be as good. Yes, it is.
i thought in all the Ohurley novels all the men sounded whimpy almost...Trace was the best in Without a Trace. They played macho men roles but they were just UGH.
Loved the voice and inflection for Maddie. Chantelle sounds like her nose is a mile in the air and Abby sounds like she will spook at the drop of a hat.
overall, good stories and worth the bulk price!
Nora Roberts always writes a good story. This series wasn't as good as some I have read, but still very good.
I read the O'Hurleys out of order, and read this one (the second) first. It's kind of hilarious to read about Reed, a record company executive, being really powerful but the romance itself holds up fine. Maddy's career as a Broadway star is entertaining and I liked them together. Marie Caliendo's narration was spot on. A short, but sweet little audio romance.
Love Nora Roberts and this story did not disappoint. Really enjoyed it. Would have been better with a different narrator. Marie Caliendo did not do the story justice.
Fun to read #1 of the three
