Publisher's summary

The life of a paid mercenary makes sense to Special Forces Officer Winslow Grange. The jungles of South America may make his former job as a ranch manager for his friend Jay Pendleton look like a cakewalk, but it’s nothing that the former Green Beret can’t handle. A woman’s heart, however - that’s dangerous territory. Back in Texas, Grange’s biggest problem was avoiding Peg Larson and all the complications being attracted to the daughter of his foreman would entail.

Now Grange will need all his training to help General Emilio Machado gain control of the tiny South American nation of Barrera. But when Peg arrives unannounced, she’s a distraction he can’t avoid. She’s determined to show Grange she can be useful on and off the battlefield. Once she breaks through his armor, traversing the wilds of the Amazon will prove an easier task than defending himself against her winning charms….

Courageous

I enjoyed the story very much. The General has been a good character in other books-- and good to hear he rest of his story. The narrator's voice was horrible. It sound like some old southern snob. Very hard to listen to,like fingernails on a chalkboard.

Feel good

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did find myself laughing a few times threw out the book and there is a part they will make you try and tear up.

Any additional comments?

It was a sweet story with a little action and a little something something. I wish the rest of the collection of the Long Tall Texan series would come to audible.

Rancher loses heart to foreman's daughter

Where does Courageous rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It ranks very highly. Diana Palmer writes a really good book and they lend themselves to Audio very well.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Winslow Grange because he is such a capable man. Liked him from Heartless where I first met his character. Between his good looks and strong character he is a hard man to resist.

What about Phil Gigante’s performance did you like?

His voices for his characters other than Peg of course were all good. Makes Winslow a very sensual and strong man to listen to. You can feel the strength in his voice that his character is supposed to have. The other women in the book were better than Peg but wish the women were better. I enjoy his reading these types of characters. He is the narrator for most of the Long Tall Texan series and I enjoy listening to him.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When he reunites with Peg at the village where he has no idea she is since she is not even supposed to be in the country.

Any additional comments?

This is just a very well written book with interesting characters and an interesting storyline that is at least one that you can believe could happen. I enjoy this series of books and am glad they are available on audio.

Romantic

I thoroughly enjoyed this story the romance in it teaching people not to be so negative. The sad drug abuse. But you really have to stop using the word clip when it’s a magazine for a weapon.

Oh, the preaching.

This story is full of none-too-subtle preaching, in typical Diana Palmer fashion. Saved, once again, by the wonderful Phil Gigante. (The only reason I put up with the nagging, in fact....mmmmm....Phil Gigante!)

That said, this story was more entertaining than DP's normal. If you can ignore the holier-than-thou bits, it's quite good. (Plus, did I mention Phil Gigante?)
