Olivia James has never been one to walk on the wild side, at least not until she meets Seth Marc - a cocky, sexy fighter at her father's gym.
He's infuriating, nauseatingly addictive and she just can't seem to shake him. He's only been in town a short while and his name is already on everyone's lips. He's the kind of guy moms' warn their daughters about - the kind that leaves a trail of shattered hearts behind him and he has Olivia in his sights.
Olivia has never met anyone as confusing as Seth and his hot and cold attitude constantly sends her reeling. She's never wanted anyone's touch so badly in her life, but having recently come out of a long term relationship diving into another is something she'd prefer to avoid.
Determined for his touch, but not to let him under her skin, Olivia embarks on the most thrilling ride of her life.

I love being swept away by a new romance and thankfully Audible's ever growing Library means I get to indulge myself over and over again
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book as I hadn't listened to anything about MMA before but I love bad boys and couple that with the cover (I know I know shrug but what can I say) so I thought I'd give it a try. Well, Wow and Wow this beautiful slow building love story just blew me away and I listened to it unwilling to acknowledge that there was actually a 'pause' button.
Olivia's a beautiful strong willed good girl who's been beaten down by a 6 year relationship with her cheating (now ex) boyfriend and swears off men - that is until she's in her Father's Gym and slowly gazes over dark shorts then sweaty muscles, abs, tattoos, dark eyes and eventually looks into an all knowing, handsome, smiling face.... Seth (sigh where's my fan). He's a cocky, sexy, handsome, love em them leave em bad boy MMA fighter who's spoiled, stubborn and selfish but he meets Olivia's drooling gaze followed by her bright pink flush and he smiles.
This book, apart from the Epilogue, is told entirely from Olivia's POV there's instant attraction and sizzling sexual chemistry but Seth holds back.... but for how long? A jealous ex boyfriend, her boss, a very angry fellow fighter, and her best friend all stir the plot up along with her Mother, his closed off family issues and his denials don't make for a good start. But when they overcome their issues, share secrets and learn to trust each other it makes for a very touching, tender and romantic bond and very sexy too.
There's stress as Seth's jealous, possessive and is all consuming over Olivia as he learns to cope with the changes brought about by his new found feelings, there's an emotional heartache too, an annoying best friend, other likeable secondary characters, a secondary love/sex affair, various tense fights and, of course, their romance that must endure all in order to reach the HEA ending we crave so much.
Worth a credit? This is Part 1 of a trilogy about the couple's love and life and I'm gladly, willingly and eagerly going to use my credits on them, so I think you know what my answer is going to be - yup you've guessed it.... YES, YES and YES again.
I love all genres of books. However, when I listen to audio books as I clean, garden, drive they are better with a lot of heat!
This is a familiar story - very alpha male with feisty heroine. Why choose this one over all the other available? I'll give you three reasons:
(1) the most important one, author knows how to write a good story and the characters stand out despite them being the same "types" as a lot of other books;
(2) the book was worth time and money spent reading it; and
(3) the relationship was hot.
Another huge plus is that although it is the first in a series (with the second book due in December 2013); happily, this book is a stand alone story with no cliff hanger ending. There are some minor editing issues but nothing to ruin the story.
Having said that the narrator ruined the book for me. I agree with Tammy comments below.
EM Eldridge, did not put her soul into this book. She did not keep my interest at all. She reads so fast it seamed like is was on high speed and very mono-toned. No expression at all. I don't think I can listen to another book she narrates.
Love books. Can get lost in them and spend hours there.
This story is all heart beating fast and smiles and crying that you could ask for.
Buy it.you won't regret buying this story
No. it's not compelling enough for me to listen again
No I don't believe so.
I have listend to this book but I keep forgetting what it is about until I read the synopsis again. I do remember enjoying it as I read it but the fact that I can't remember it since is why I'm not giving it a high mark. I just can't remember it and I read it within a month ago.

Truthfully, I would recommend another title with a similar storyline and like characters (MMA fighters and their women) before I'd recommend this one.
The most engaging aspect of this story was the MMA element; emotionally unreachable tough guys are a staple in many romance novels, and it was appealing in this story. The least engaging aspect of the story was the repetitive, clinical description of minutiae which at times made the book read more like a manual than a story.
The characters THEMSELVES needed a good deal more development; but that is not the question being asked here. Eldridge did a good job of changing voice from male to female, and an adequate (if a bit less successful) job differentiating among same-sex voices. Since most of the novel consisted of long streams of consciousness and descriptions voiced by the female lead (one of the flaws of the novel, actually, as it reduced dialog and action), I became quite used to the narrator representing the main female character and found her voice believable. Her voicing sounded age-appropriate for all the characters, including Olivia's parents, and that was a plus.
No; I was not compelled to listen straight through, but I was interested enough to listen to it until I finished.
The story itself has many similarities in plot, theme, and character to quite a few other series on the market (one has only to search MMA Romance to find a list of many titles which bear similar plotlines and characters), but because MMA and other fighting bad boys are such a hot topic in romance literature right now, it doesn't really hurt that the story doesn't offer anything essentially new. It's still a good story about themes many romance readers enjoy, and Olivia and Seth are likeable characters whom we'd like to see find a happy ending. These are the reasons I rated the overall review as a 4, though the other two ratings were 3s; the topic is a very hot trend and interesting to read about.
This book was so poorly written I couldn't believe it was not by a high school student with suffering grades in English and writing. Wow. What a waist of time! The conversations were juvenile and the story offered absolutely nothing. The romance was built almost immediately and was astoundingly underdeveloped. Story was so badly written that I neither saw the reason behind the draw and attraction between the characters nor why she had a calming effect on the hero. Then I guess as readers we have to assume it was completely based on looks. So if that is the reason, then the love that developed so quickly between a woman with extremely low self esteem and a guy responsible for so many female wet dreams was not a likely connection in real life and therefore nothing we can relate to. Overall if you purchase this book, you are wasting your credit completely. Save yourself the aggravation and move on to something better.
It was a decent story. It ended up being better than I thought it would be; the narration started off kind of iffy as the narrator spoke rapidly. However, as the story proceeded the narration improved. I can't wait to listen to the next one.
Yes. A good story with a hot fighter. None of the huge conflicts that are so prevalent in most of the stories lately. Just enough angst to keep you going. SO glad this wasn't a cliff hanging trilogy. I am so over that nonsense.
Seth was my favorite because he was sexy and wasn't afraid to put his emotions out there.
Although I hated the best friend Selena, I think the narrator captured her annoying personality perfectly.
I would but it wouldn't be my first choice, but she also wouldn't be my last.
A good listen not great...
