Publisher's summary

Anthony Rawlings had a plan - to teach Claire Nichols to behave. Claire Nichols had a plan - to survive! In an unfamiliar bedroom within a luxurious mansion, Claire Nichols wakes to memories of a brutal abduction. All of her recollections have one common denominator, the man she just met - Anthony Rawlings. Unbeknownst to Claire, Anthony has had her in his sights for a long time. Every action has consequences - and his actions resulted in their chance meeting. Facing incomprehensible circumstances, Claire must learn to survive as she comes to terms with her new reality - every aspect of her livelihood is now dependent upon the tall, dark-haired, dark-eyed tycoon. Anthony may appear to the world as a prosperous, benevolent, kind businessman, but in reality Claire learns he is also a menacing, controlling captor with very strict rules: Do as you're told, public failure is not an option, and don't divulge private information. Failure to follow these rules, and more, is met with serious consequences.

In an effort to earn her freedom, Claire learns her lessons well, and before long, she unknowingly captivates her captor. Anthony/Tony reluctantly becomes enthralled with Claire's beauty, resilience, and determination. Their interaction instigates strong emotions - including fear, anger, love, and lust - as their journey flows into uncharted waters of intrigue and passion.

From the opening criminal abduction, through the twists and turns, to the unlikely romantic thrills, the suspense climaxes as Aleatha Romig utilizes vivid detail, allowing this novel to unfold like a movie. Can you put the pieces of the puzzle together? Claire Nichols abduction wasn't a random act - did she learn her lessons well enough? Will these unlikely lovers remain true - or will she learn the truth before it's too late?

domestic mind melt

Claire Nichols had a plan to escape Anthony Rawlings after being kidnapped Tony's is the master puppeteer when it comes to manipulating people, their lives, and their families. His sole goal is to control and destroy Clair and it started decades before she knew. Despite his domestic physical and emotional abuse, Tony molded Clair into a trophy wife and a pawn unbeknownst to Clair her failure to follow Tony's rules was measured into his plan to crush her.

This was a VERY long story and while I found a lot of the domestic abuse repetitive, I understood more once I finished the story about the domestic events and why the extended detail of the head games were identified....which leads to the next book -

There's no HEA in this story.

Good suspense

Initially the story was a little slow getting started and the ending was very surprising. I got use to the narrator and I couldn't stop listening. Waiting to hear the next book after I complete my master course in a couple weeks to keep distracts to a minimum. This book was a huge distraction.

Exception

I guess I'm an exception to the rule. The ongoing physical and emotional abuse was so intense that it made me depressed. I listened to the entire book even though I wanted to stop listening several times. If you can just listen and not get too emotionally involved, you will love this book however if you like to get fully wrapped up in a book… It may ruin your day! (Or week, as it is a very long book)

I loved/hated Fifty Shades of Grey but this book I pretty much just hated. The correlation between the two is the older man younger girl and the abuse which is taken much further in this book than in Fifty Shades. (no steamy details in this book though)

Tony is maddening! Frustrating to Read.

I'm conflicted about this book. It makes you feel, but has a lot of filler.

Interesting Story

The story is interesting, but the reader's voice makes it very difficult to listen. She sounds like she is reading to a group of kindergarten children.

Meh

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I wish she had been a stronger main character. I didn't like how naive she was and the psychology behind the story drove me nuts!!

Would you be willing to try another book from Aleatha Romig? Why or why not?

Yes. The story wasn't bad, it was just a little used.

Which scene was your favorite?

When she was telling her story to the lawyers.

Do you think Consequences needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No

Anthony is one messed up individual...

After the first chapter or two, I wanted to strangle him, then I wanted to shake some sense into Claire... almost quit the book at that point but am so glad I didn't. Now can't wait to delve into the next of the series. Hopefully it will quench that little thirst I feel on her behalf for some revenge.

Great

I've had the pleasure of reading/listening to the main 3 books in this series and although a little long I really liked them. I can't say that I would take as many hours and re-read or listen again but surely am not going to delete them. It took a minutes to get used to the voices reading. But good book. I think book one was the best.

Excellent story!

it winds and pulls you in with each twist and turn. It's intense and at the end... wow!! The performance was pretty good. there was some inflection on certain words that was strange and pulled me out of the store and a feel times that she changed her voice incorrectly for the character which was confusing. But overall I enjoyed the story and the performance!

Interesting!

I liked the storyline but grew frustrated at Claire. Was she really that naïve?
The abuse scenes were a hard pill to swallow but made sense with the way Tony's character unfolds. The plot really thickened and kept me hooked. I'm going to the next book now to continue.
