Publisher's summary

Sheltered preacher's daughter Haley Foster ran away from her small town to do all the "bad" things she'd never done. She soon found herself in a hotel room with U.S. Marshal Kevin Harmon. But her knight in shining armor showed no interest in teaching a disappointed Haley Lovemaking 101....

Kevin had every interest in teaching the bold, beautiful virgin in front of him a few lessons in love. But his integrity - and a deep-rooted fear of commitmen - kept him in check. Then an unexpected road trip with eager Haley put his resolve to the test. And soon they were both on a wild journey of discovery and setting a new course - for love.

A Bit Too Sweet

I've read Susan Mallery books before, so I expected to enjoy this one also. However, while the storyline is interesting, it's really difficult to fall for. The heroine, Haley Foster, is impossibly naive. Seriously, I don't see any way that a person could be as naive/ignorant as Mallery made this character. It made Haley's words & actions eye-roll inducing. I also thought the story was a bit too simplistic and predictable. Of course, we all know (and want) the hero & heroine to come together in the end. But there didn't seem to be any twists and turns in Haley and Kevin's relationship. It's nice that they are complete opposites, or at least they initially believe they are. But there weren't really any bumps in the road during their relationship...nothing to test the mettle of their love. Additionally, Haley's ex-fiance--indeed her whole pre-road-trip life--seem one-dimensional.

In all, I wouldn't necessarily advise against purchasing this book. But I would definitely consider waiting until it's on sale.

P.S. Therese Plummer did a good job as narrator.

A charming, thoughtful romance.

If you could sum up Completely Smitten in three words, what would they be?

The relationship between Kevin and Haley evolves without the artifice of gratuitous sex. The plot moves along and the characters are revealed gradually in a natural progression.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Haley is a joy. Her previously curbed warmth and ambitions are gradually revealed as the story progresses. She grows throughout the story. Kevin, our hero, also evolved and his heart warms up through the story. Still, Haley is my favorite.

Which scene was your favorite?

I loved the talent show ... atta girl, Haley.

Any additional comments?

A note on Allan, the ex-fiance, what an idiot! So nice to see him summarily dealt with.

Promising...

I almost stopped listening to this one because the naive attitude of Haley was so over-the-top at the beginning. But I'm glad I kept at it because it turned out to be a nice little love story. I keep waiting for SM to give us another series that is as good as her "Buchanan" family series (see Delicious, Sizzling, Irresistible and Tempting - MUST READS!), but unfortunately, this ain't it. Still, it was cute and sweet, and I will look forward to the next in the series.

Totally FUN!

This book is a hoot! Susan Mallery has a wonderful sense of humer, and Therese Plummer does an outstanding job as the narrator! I listened to it twice, laughing out loud both times, then listened with my husband as we traveled. He laughed out loud too. It is an entertaining read!

Absolutely adorable

This story started a little cringy, but as I found myself connecting to the main character. I found it funny and intriguing. Pretty good for a easy short listen.

Laugh out loud

As most romances, you know what the ending will be. The thing that makes this book worth listening to is the laugh out loud style of the writer brought to life by a great reader. Throughout this book I smiled and laughed.

Lighthearted listen.

Where does Completely Smitten rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

New to audiobooks. I found this predictable but lighthearted and enjoyed the story. The male character was not always believable being performed by a female voice.
