    "Couldn't Finish It"

I purchased this audiobook because of the many rave reviews, but unfortunately mine wont be as kind. I didn't hold this to particularly high standards because it is a romance book, and went along with most of it until about the third section. The absolute worst thing about this audiobook is the narrator. She sounds like a little old lady, and the last thing I want is a little old lady (with a whiny voice) reading sex scenes to me. The narrator breathes heavy, swallows audibly, and has a halting way of delivering the script. And she absolutley butchers the main Comanche's way of speaking. She narrates the Indians in the same stereotypical way that most people say "how" when mimicking Native Americans, deep and drawn out, and absolutey awful for the main love interest. The book itself held my interest until the third segment. I allowed myself to believe that a Comanche could speak fluent English, and believed that he could fall in love with a white girl, but the story got repetitive very quickly. He abducts her, she fights back, he takes her home, she comes back, she tries to run away, he convinces her to stay, she runs away, he goes after her. It seemed like these Indians had nothing better to do than chase after her through the whole book. And she is such a prude I felt like screaming. Also, rape is a very prevalent theme. I wasn't offended or put out by it, but it just seemed like everyone got raped or was almost raped, and just when you think youve gotten past it they vividly describe an old rape. I guess overall my expectations were that if I managed to believe this English speaking Indian falls head over heels for a white girl and chases her all over the earth then at least take me the whole way-dont have him threaten to beat her or marry other wives, and please dont give him the voice of a typecast Indian.

    "Nice idea, but doesn't work."

The differences between Loretta and the comanche are never overcome. There is far too much between them. I will say that I liked the hero a great deal, and I was entirely openminded. I also felt very sad for the reality that is the Native American history. But all and all I didn't buy the story.

    "Entertaining story, painful narrator!"

I enjoyed this book in paperback and I downloaded this copy to my ipod to listen to on my commute. I was unsure of the narrator after hearing the initial clip, but went ahead and used my credit on this book. Mistake!! I thought I could handle the narrator and I just couldn't do it. The story is about a youger woman and the narrator has a grating voice that sounds like she is 100 years old. I just couldn't do it... If you have any doubts after listening to the preview clip, just don't do it. It only gets worse.

    "wonderful book"

A book that takes you back in time. I love stories like this, and there are many wonderful examples of life explained in this book.

Make sure you listen to Comanche Heart right after this. The books follow in order.

I recommend this to anyone who likes to relive their dreams.

    "LOVED THIS STORY"

I am not sure what else to say about this book ... besides I LOVED IT! You will not reqret the purchase. Also, I would love to see Madaline Stowe and Daniel Lewis play Loretta and Hunter ... it would be a box office hit.

    "Long story"
Would you listen to Comanche Moon again? Why?

Probably. This story had it's ups and downs, the main female character was aggravating and predictable at times.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The narration of the native language was so halting, to the point of distraction.

"If you loved the book then you'll love the audio.."
Would you consider the audio edition of Comanche Moon to be better than the print version?

I think the audio edition is just as good as the print version. A lot of reviewers complained about the narrator, but I really found her to be an excellent storyteller. I remember one review in particular that didn't like the way she read the Comanche words... but in the story, Hunter is teaching Loretta the words... so he would enunciate them very slowly so she would be able to hear the syllables and learn. Didn't bother me at all.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I love all of Catherine Anderson's stories, and sometimes I'm glad I have a long commute to work so I can listen to big chunks at a time :) This is a book I have a hard time putting down!

    "Slow start, ok finish"
What made the experience of listening to Comanche Moon the most enjoyable?

The more I got into the story the more I lost the voice of the narrator, and heard the voice of the characters. I was not impressed with the narrator overall.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Hunter truly was the character that I liked the most. Dealing with 2 cultures, and trying to understand his destiny he was a man in an emotional turmoil

How did the narrator detract from the book?

More the actual recording was the biggest distraction. To many dead spots and not enough spacing between chapters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No I bought this book with the understanding of having several weeks of listening while I drove to and from work.

I loved this book, I really enjoyed the characters and how they developed. I was sad when it ended and hope for sequels to this entertaining book
