Publisher's summary

In the second novel of Maya Rodale's enchanting Keeping Up with the Cavendishes series, an American heiress finds her reputation - and heart - in danger when she travels to London and meets a wickedly tempting rake.

Terribly Improper

Lady Amelia is fed up with being a proper lady and wishes to explore London, so one night she escapes...and finds herself in the company of one Alistair Finlay-Jones. He's been ordered by his uncle to wed one of the American girls. How lucky, then, that one of them stumbles right into his arms!

Totally Scandalous

Alistair and Amelia have one perfect day to explore London, from Astley's Amphitheater to Vauxhall Gardens. Inevitably they end up falling in love and making love. If anyone finds out, she will be ruined, but he will win everything he's ever wanted.

Very Romantic

When Amelia finds out Alistair has been ordered to marry her, he must woo her and win back the angry American girl. But with the threat of scandals - plural - looming...will he ever catch up to the woman he loves?

Decent story. Great Narration!

This was a decent story, not my favorite Maya Rodale book. I am a big Maya Rodale fan too.

I liked Amelia and Alistair together. They made a good couple and there was some good witty banter between the two on their excursions together. They did have some good chemistry together. There was a couple nicely written sex scenes.

The story line and plot was okay. There was no mystery, not too much angst, no villains. It was more about the scandal they caused. Like I said it was a decent story but not a favorite by no means. The dialogue was great, there was lots of it!

As for the narration, Saskia Maarleveld did a great job. I really like her. All the men sound like men, everyone gets a voice and she has a very nice reading voice to listen to.

Selfish brat gets her HEA

A disappointing follow up which occurs in tandem to book 1. I was worried by the summary, but thought this book couldn’t possibly be that different from book 1.

Alas, I found Lady Amelia to be a spoiled brat and Allister to be an idiot. Lady Amelia thinks of no one but herself, throws decorum and caution to the wind, adopts a false name, spends an entire day out in public with a man, and then surrenders her innocence that very night. And then, she has the gall to sulk when it’s revealed that he too had hidden his full identity. Even though her actions threaten ruin and scandal for her entire family. What’s there to like about her?

For his part, Allister’s honor doesn’t last a single day. And once he’s ruined her, he repeatedly fails to come up to scratch because he doesn’t want her thinking he’s just fortune hunting. Huh? Because he thinks she’ll be better off duping some other guy into believing she’s still pure?

There is less banter, fun, and romance in this book compared to the already tame book 1. The single get together is virtually fade to black, which is criminal considering this is the sister who rebels and seizes the day. If anyone deserved a fiery, uncontrolled night of abandon, it was her. I’m not sure this was worth the sale price. In fact, I’d recommend instead Stacy Reid, some of whose books are now bundled (take the four book collection Wedded by Scandal), or either of Tessa Dare’s two books that are also on sale this month in Audible (Scot Ties the Knot and Say Yes to the Marquess).

Roman Holiday...Not bad but certainly NOT Great

Like the first book that is a mangled version of Pride and Prejudice meets Bridget Jones Diary. Cute but way too wordy.

This one is a rehash of the 50s film Roman Holiday. Maybe slightly better. Biggest complaint is the repetitive chatter and inner thoughts. Again way too wordy. I get that Allister had everything he needed in his hands right from the beginning, but he kept saying that over and over. Many times within one paragraph. And really...Allister suddenly gets all noble? Geeze what a male pity party.

My question is doesn't this writer have any original ideas? I am not familiar with Maya Rodale so perhaps she writes lots of more original stories but this series seems to be redos of other stories. Saskia Maarleveld did good job.

Another great installment to this series.

How can one NOT love the Cavendish's?
Maya Rosales delivers another hit in her usual style of romance and trouble.

Narrator: Excellent performance!

Heat Factor: Luke warm.... barely.

Creditworthy? Yes.
