Publisher's summary

Nineteen-year-old Cheyenne tries to portray the perfect life to mask the memories of her past. Walking in on her boyfriend with another woman her freshman year in college threatens that picture of perfection. Twenty-one-year-old Colt never wanted college and never expected to amount to anything, but when his mom's dying wish is for him to get his degree, he has no choice but to pretend it's what he wants too. Cheyenne needs a fake boyfriend to get back at her ex and Colt needs cash to take care of his mom, so they strike a deal that helps them both. But what if Cheyenne’s past isn’t what she thought? Soon they’re trading one charade for another - losing themselves in each other to forget about their pain. The more they play their game, the more it becomes the only thing they have that feels real.

Both Cheyenne and Colt know life is never easy, but neither of them expect the tragedy that threatens to end their charade and rip them apart forever.

A new series to get addicted too!

Another emotional ride worth going on!
The lead was a tad annoying at first showing her bitchy side but it was pretty reasonable with what she was getting so...a little love/hate relationship with a hot guy is a given fun ride. But there is some happy, some sad tears, some lust and fury, but as it all plays out-it will leave you downloading the next book soon after!

Captivating, sexy & down right romantic

This is the story two troubled souls, Colt and Cheyenne that somehow are the healing become what the other needs to heal. True love blooms. This story has the right mix of angst and suspense to keep you on the edge wondering what will happen. I love a good story with some hot and steamy romance; this has the just right mix of it. This my first book by this author and I can’t wait to download book #2 in the series. Marcy Sterling is a very believable narrator & made the book even better.

Surprisingly good, if you are ok with a little YA

This book was surprisingly good. It had real potential to be an eye rolling adventure. I'll be honest. I bought it because it was 4 bucks.

The characters are around 20, so there are some elements that lack maturity. But they are not too over the top. If I think back on being 20, none of this seems overly unreasonable.

What I really liked: The two main characters showed emotional growth that wasn't at the expense of the other person. In so many of these 'my past sucks' books, one person ends up being the victim of the other's past (whether it is purposely presented that way in the book or not). In this instance, the two main characters didn't 'save' each other, they helped each other grow. This I liked.

The stuff I didn't like was mostly YA behavior related, so I tried to let it go. If these characters had been 30 I would have been disappointed. Cheyenne's mother issues tested my patience at times.

But, al in all, pleasantly surprised.

Good read

This was a good read. I wasn't overly thrilled. I'm not a big fan of sad stories. You have to try it yourself to see what you think.

OK Read

What did you like best about Charade? What did you like least?

I liked the way Colton was with his mother.. I didn't really care for how shallow Cheyenne was in the beginning.

What about Macy Sterling’s performance did you like?

I liked Macy's ability to do a pretty good guy voice.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

If this book was made into a movie I'd watch it but not in the theaters.

A Complete Suprise

This book took me by surprise. I wasn't expecting to fall in love with these characters. This book was intense and it was heart wrenching to watch both characters struggle. In the end, they both find a way to help each other overcome and fall in love. Warning....I needed tissues for this book as well.

Finding an anchor

This is my first time hearing the narrator Macy Sterling, and she did very well. I enjoyed her voice and it added to my enjoyment of this one. It was sweet, and a little sad but so full of hopeful moments.
Cheyenne just broke up with her boyfriend Gregory for cheating on her. She asks the local bad boy, Colt, to pretend to be her boyfriend, to make Gregory jealous and also get Gregory to leave her alone. What started out as a charade became much more as these two lost college students found out they had much more in common, and they became an anchor for the other as they faced their fears.
In the end, the charade ended up making them stronger and better people as they learned to rely on each other and find new reasons to persevere.

It wasn't too painful or angsty, it wasn't overly drawn out. It was sweet, and well written. Colt and Cheyenne were really strong and trying to deal with the hand life dealth them. I liked how they let the guard down around each other and showed vulnerability. I really liked Colt's mom and her words to Chey about Chey's mom. Very sweet and thoughtful of her to leave those lasting words to a young woman who need to hear that so badly. Really good book.
