Publisher's Summary

Leader of the vampire clan MoonBound, Hunter will do what he must to save his people from extinction - or worse, a torturous eternity as vampire slaves and subjects of human experimentation. To keep his enemies at bay, he has agreed to mate a rival clan leader's daughter in return for peace between the clans and an ally in the looming war with the humans.

But survival comes at a price. First, Hunter must break an ancient curse by successfully negotiating three deadly tests. Then he must resist the searing passions of the gorgeous vampire warrior he despises but is bound to mate with. Will Hunter stay true to his word? Or will he risk everything for the woman he really loves: the vampire seductress' identical twin sister?

    "Better than Book 1"

I enjoyed this book better than book 1, but there is still something missing for me.
In this sequel, Hunter, chief of MoonBound clan has to fulfill the bargain he made in book 1, to marry the daughter of a rival clan. While Hunter wasn't looking forward to mating Rasha, as a leader, he had to create alliances as the human attacks on vampires continue to increase.

Rasha travels to her new clan with her twin sister Aylin as a decoy in case they come across trouble. Aylin is disposable since she has a limp, and she is a second twin who should have been drowned according to clan customs. When the group came under attack, Hunter was able to rescue the princess and they spent some time getting to know each other. Imagine Hunter's shock when he learned that it was actually Aylin, not Rasha that he has been spending time with at the hidden cabin.

The contrast in personalities is vast as Rasha is just awful and Aylin is so sweet. I did find that cliche that the beautiful one was rotten inside and the deformed sister was a gem inside. But it put Hunter in a quagmire--does he do his duty or follow his heart?

The length of time it took to resolve this triangle, coupled with the dangling issues with Mine and the traitor left me unsatisfied.

The world building in this book was much better and more interesting. The origins of the clans, seeing some of the individual's abilities such as Aylin's gift was a good touch to this story. I will continue the series but I wasn't wowed by this one either.

    "Better than the first book."

I wasn't a big fan of the first book Bound by Night, I thought the series may have potential so I went ahead and purchased this one. Then I found myself passing this book over for others, I had no real desire to see if this book was better than the first. Which is why it took me a while to listen to it. Luckily this book is better than the first, although still not as good as the Demonica/Horseman series. In the last book the biggest factor that bugged me was the characters, I didn't really like them. In this book I liked Hunter and Aylin much better and I was interested in how their future would turn out. I will be giving this series another shot if Larissa Ione writes another, but my hopes are for more books in the Demonica/Horseman series to be written. If you liked the first book then get this book, but if you are not a fan then this book is more of the same. Narrator was okay, but luckily for me not all narrators are a make it or break it deal.

    "Too little"

The narrator tried to do to much, with to little tools. Her voices took away from a otherwise fine tale.

    "Great Listen!"

I have to say that this was a much better book than book one. It's been a while since a book peaked my interest where I couldn't go to sleep because the book intrigued me sooo much. The reader was good, there were times where I a had a hard time knowing who was talking because Amy's voice sounded the same with some the characters. That was a minor issue I had. Now... it's waiting time... When will Larissa Ione come out with book three? I'm eager :)

What did you love best about Chained by Night?

The fact that Hunter though he seems like a hard ass has a very compassionate nature.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Chained by Night?

Finding out the Mine and Hunter are cousins. Left me reeling for a bit

What about Amy Landon’s performance did you like?

All of it. She's one of my favorite narrators.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No quit. I did listen to it rather quickly but did not feel the need to finish it all at once
