A little too much man/relationship bashing! The pick up lines at the begining of each chapter were funny though.

Had such high hopes.

Seriously maybe one of the worst things I've listened to in a while. Its a toss up of who was the worst. Marcus, the world's worst cockiest obnoxious jerk and had attitude beyond what he was worthy, treated women like garbage and was an overall jackass, a boss who pretty much screwed Jillian over when dhe sold to Marcus, the jerk after always proclaims shed never ever hire a man let alone sell out to him after skillfully avoiding Jilliand attempt to buy the company, a father who brings his child to his affair and expects her silence, a mother who checks out and tries to feed poison cookies to men, siblings who expect Jillian to forgive their father and think Jillian should just "woman up" after being the one to discover her mother after a suicide attempt or and try to manipulate her into whatever twisted thing they want saying its for her own good. Betyer to be an only child than have those two stereotypes of humans. This is the only book by this author I haven't liked so read others by her just skip this unless you want a headache and to be disappointed and mad at the waste of time.

TO BE HONEST I AM NEW TO AUDIBLE BOOKS . I DO HAVE A TOP OF THE LINE E-READER. SOMETIMES THERE IS A GLITCH IN THEM .MOST OF THE TIME NOT...I WOULD SAY ANYONE WHO LIKES ROMANCE W/ COMEDY .BUT IT DOES SKIP CHAPTERS ON 2 DEVICES IN THE SAME SPOT.

What was most disappointing about Gena Showalter’s story?

I HAVE TO SAY THAT I HAVE BEEN READING MOSTLY ROMANCE AND SCHOOL ALONG WITH MED. BOOKS MOST ALL MY LIFE. AND I HAVE ON MY EREADER ALONE I HAVE 4,598+ BOOKS. BOOK IN TURN THE PAPER WELL OVER 20,000 + IN MY OWN TESTS OF A GOOD TO GREAT BOOKS NO MATTER WHAT KIND SHOULD GRAB THE READER IN THE CHAPTER AND NEVER LET THEM GO. I AM SORRY TO SAY THAT DID NOT HAPPEN . WHEN YOU READ ANY BOOK JUST BECAUSE YOU LIKE THE FRONT /HEARD ABOUT/FOUND IT ONLINE. IT SHOULD TAKE YOU AWAY FROM YOUR EVERDAY LIFE. DISHES ,WORK ECT. WOULD I GIVE GENA SHOWALTER ANOTHER CHANCE YES. AND IF THIS BOOK WAS SKIPPING CHAPTERS TO BE HONEST I MIGHT HAVE LIKED IT BETTER.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

SOME WHAT YES. IF THIS BOOK WAS MENT FOR LITTLE KIDS AT BEDTIME IT WOULD BE GREAT BUT WHEN SHE TRY'S TO DEEPEN VOICE TO BE HONEST IT SCREAMED IN MY HEAD 3 BEARS AND LITTLE RED RIDDING HOOD.OR DR.SUESS

ROMANCE YES HAS GRAPHIC TALKING WITH A SPLASH OR TWO OF COMEDY. NEEDS MORE DEPTH TO THE BOOK .AND TO BE FIXED SO AS IT DOES NOT SKIP OVER CHAPTERS.

Do not waste your time

I have been a member of audible for many years and this is my first review. Yes, this book is that bad. The story doesn't make sense in parts and the characters are aweful. They are aweful as people and not fully realized characters. They so often did things out of character that it became the norm.
Please don't waste your time listening to this book, unless you like stories about aweful, self-obessessed, juveniles.

UGH!

Stuggling to get through this one. So far it has taken me 20 hours to get through the first part of this book... Too many "grrs" and "don't go there's" for me. The narrator's change of voices for characters was pitiful.

Lost the steam midway...

This started as a very funny and sexy story but then halfway through it just went down. I've read and listened to many Harlequin Desire/Blaze books so I enjoy love at first site, intense relationship stories but this one was borderline ridiculous. The total time span of this story is about four days. In four days Jillian and Marcus fall madly in love, breakup, get back together after a suicide/stupidity incident and he proposes marriage and signs over half of his business to her. Also, Jilian's friend Georgia all of a sudden goes completely should-be-institutionalized crazy but that only makes her realize that Jilian's brother is her true love. Come on! The narrator did an ok job with what she had to work with though.

Gena Showalter has had strong female characters...

couldnt finish the book. The male protagonist made me want to punch him in the face. This book makes women seem weak and useless putting up with this jerks attitude. This is how guys think treating like women in the work force is okay and women think its okay to be treated like this just because men are attractive.


The reader made women seem like a bunch of airhead bimbos.
