Disappointing from Tijan

I really liked the Mafia part of this book and I wanted more about that. The families and the roles members have and ordering hits on people. It was there, but not as in depth as I hoped. The story was mostly from Emma's point of view and she was emotionally all over the place. She flip flopped between trusting Carter with her life and then being suspicious and not listening to his instructions. I really didn't care for Theresa, she was constantly saying mean things to Emma and Amanda and it's supposed to be forgiven because "oh, she just puts her foot in her mouth, it's fine." No, she's a bad friend. Most of the girls were selfish and irritating. I didn't mind Amanda and felt bad for her with the way her friends treated her. I hoped for more sex scenes at least, but they were lackluster.
I'm not sure I care enough to read book 2, which doesn't even have it's own title lol.
The narrator was okay, nothing amazing, but she didn't have a lot to work with either.

"I gasped..."

The plot was ok, but the female was portrayed kind of stupid and weepy, acting upset and then when she sees her good looking boyfriend she all of a sudden can't think of anything but her "need" to have him. It was a lot of "I gasped" everytime he touched her... it sounded a bit silly. That being said, the actual story was pretty good.

great book

Such a great book. the narration was very good. Am glad i decided to listen to it much better than when i read the book

Geez!!

Nice book because I wanted to know what would happen to Carter in the end but omg how stupid could Emma be!! but overall a nice story.

Listening was better

I read this book about 2 yrs ago. I loved it. Although I remember it ending differently, listening enhanced my feelings about the book. I enjoyed the performer ‘s voice and execution. The story of Carter and Emma was great. I love the fact that it was a part of my audible romance package.

Carter!!

Loved Carter all around—too good to be true though. Emma was likable, but made some stupid decisions and froze up too often. That said, I was riveted and wondering what was going to happen next. While I prefer listening to deep male voices, this female narrator did a great job.

Mafia heaven

I love Carter Reed and even Emily. Strong female's leads are the best. The narration is awesome. I would highly recommend reading and/or listening to this.

Enjoyed it- Easy Listen

Three stars because at times it felt a little to cheesy or far fetched. Great narrators!

Page Turning Excitement

I loved this book! I finished it in a day because I couldn't put it down. The characters all have stong personalites but are relateable. The love Carter has for Emma is like a hug to the readers heart. Even if he's a mobster.

I would live for this to turn into a movie

I am in love with this book. Cant wait to read part 2. I highly recommend
