Publisher's summary

Travel back to the loveswept world of Fortune's Island with New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Shirley Jump.

His voice pierced the darkest corners of her heart.

Waitress Jillian Matheson needs a life makeover. The first thing on her "Get it Together" to-do list is breaking up with her fiancé, Zach Gifford, a struggling rocker who refuses to grow up. With Zach on the sidelines, Jillian pursues the dream career she's secretly craved for decades and finds romance in the arms of a hot, mysterious visitor on Fortune's Island. There's just one kink in her plans. Zach's band has a regular gig at The Love Shack where she works. And she can't deny the effect of his velvet-cloaked voice, a voice that can still reach places she no longer allows his hands to touch.

She's the only song he ever wanted to sing.

Zach thought he had everything figured out - a music career on the edge of a breakthrough and a gorgeous fiancé - until Jillian left her engagement ring on his amp one night and walked out of his life. He is sure that he can get her to remember their shared passion and realize that they belong together, until a new man enters the picture and begins to sway Jillian's heart.

Is it ever too late for true love?

Just as Zach begins to break down Jillian's walls of resistance, a dark secret from his past comes to light and threatens to ruin their second chance at love. With shattered trust pushing them farther away from each other than ever before, can these two wounded hearts find their way back to each other before the last song?

This narrator almost ruined this book

This is the worst narrator I have ever heard. The story was very good. Thankfully since the narrator almost ruined it.

Terrible narration.

While I really like the books this will be my last one on audible. The narrator is irritating sluggish in her reading. Each character sounds like they are on their last leg while taking their last breath. Too much infliction in places where it shouldn’t be.

Pretty good story but...

The narrator made me feel like I was ironing. I was exhausted after listening to her. SO slow and emphasized odd places in sentences, unusual breaks where they shouldn’t be. I won’t listen to ANY other books she narrates.

Discrepancy between book 1 & 2

The discrepancy is not with the main characters, but still odd.
The narrator talks way too slow, so I needed to speed it up. I did like both books overall.

Easy beach read- hard to listen to.

I enjoyed the light fluffy beach read but had to overcome the terrible narration. Trying to sing the lame lyrics definitely didn’t add anything to the performance.

Slowed down for time and I wouldn’t have paid for this.

The ending was a gamble either way, so not exciting either way.

The body of the work was dull.

Any author who makes a narrator sing as the other sex is a sadist. At proper speed (so she sounds like her other jobs that were not slowed to appear longer) narration is good, for a blah story.

Good book.  I look forward to reading the next in her series.  I will definitely read other books by this author.
