What is gifted storyteller!

I love the way this author spins her tails. She brilliantly weaves the story of Diana and Lyon. they are so opposite in the beginning is hard to imagine how they will ever come together but obviously opposites attract. The handwriting is on the wall from the beginning, but the story has many twists and turns and each is spun perfectly into a weave that was an amazingly compelling and beautifully crafted story. The narration was stellar and added a layer above, like icing on a cake.

Calypso Magic by Catherine Coulter

I loved this tale. Her father sends her to England to find a husband. She found a lion of a man who was in distrust of women after being jilted from one who he was suppose to wed. He soon herits a plantation in the West Indies. They sail to back to her home to a mystery. A couple of murders, everything is not what it seems, The suspect is not who they believe. Will they die before the mystery is sovled?

Calypso Magic is Magic

What made the experience of listening to Calypso Magic the most enjoyable?

Calypso Magic was a definitely a different plot for an English Historical Romance.

Have you listened to any of Anne Flosnik’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

One of her best.

Excellent!!!!!!!!!

This book was an absolutely joy to listen to. I was so enthralled and was passing out laughing while I listened to this. Catherine is getting better and better with her books and the narrator did a great job with the different voices and the expressions, it was like watching the scenes in front of me. If only this book fell into a series.......Oh, wishful thinking. Would have been good to know what happened to the slaves, Patricia and some others that were mentioned. Onward to the next book!

Lovely romance with adventure and mystery

What a lovely romance! I always start Cathrine Coulter book with trepidation as it could be hit or total miss. This story was just pleasant, all absorbing read I didn’t want to end.
There are so much going on, never a dull moment; ball room romance and intrigue with gossip, high sea adventure, deserted island and murder mystery on Caribbean plantation. It sounds like an awful mix but somehow CC makes it work beautifully.

I liked the hero and heroine, they did have a battle of wills though out the story, of course, but it wasn’t mean and nasty just flirtatious and humorous. Love blossomed quickly and there are plenty of lovemaking in the book, all in all it’s a sweet and romantic story, highly recommend.

Couldn’t finish

After listening to a good portion of this book, I am really surprised at all the good reviews. I feel that the Earl was very condescending and overbearing and disrespectful… In no way a gentleman, especially for the time. I feel that the story lacked taste and a good plot as well as storyline. The narrator was OK, but I think it added to my distaste of the book. I could not finish which is very rare for me.

Appalling

The only thing good about this book was the narrator. The "hero" is a brute and a rapist. I am disgusted that Amazon would sell a book that tries to romanticize rape. If I could give it 0 stars I would.
