This is the first novel in the Moralities of Marriage series.
When his horse throws a shoe, Fitzwilliam Darcy misses rescuing his sister, Georgiana Darcy, from the clutches of George Wickham by only one day. Now on the hunt to find them both, the gossip beginning to swirl in London forces him to abdicate the search to his cousin, Colonel Richard Fitzwilliam, while he plays the wayward gentleman in Hertfordshire with his friend Charles Bingley. After a collision with his future, Darcy struggles to satisfy his attraction to a pair of fine eyes and keep his family's scandal hidden.
Elizabeth Bennet dreams of nothing more than remaining close to her sister, Jane. When the rich gentleman, Charles Bingley, enters the neighborhood, it seems certain that Jane will make a match with him. After all, Jane Bennet is the sweetest and most beautiful woman in the county. But Elizabeth's efforts to find her own local match go awry and she feels abandoned by the first man to cause stirrings in her heart. Her parents attempt to marry Elizabeth off to her cousin, William Collins, who is set to inherit the estate. But when she refuses, she soon finds herself In London with relatives, forced to find her own happiness.
By Consequence of Marriage is a dramatic, historical romance novel starring our favorite dear couple from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, wondering how the story might have changed if Georgiana was lost.

I read the book first, actually the entire series . In your minds eye you try and picture a face and a voice. Some see Colin Firth others see Matthew McFadden. I see what the writer describes . The one thing the writer can not do is give us the sound of the voices. That is the main reason I turned to audible.
It must be truly hard to create a voice for so many different characters and not confuse them. That takes a lot of talent and Nina Price has that talent. I truly commend her for the job, that most of us can't do, she does . To take the dialog between Darcy and Elizabeth and switch voice or inflection is a great talent . Thank you Nina Price for bringing the characters I love to life.
I can not wait for book two.
I liked the story but the narrator's voice wasn't a good choice, she also rushed the sentences.
Loved the story, I already had a ebook version of the story. I think the narrator's reading of the story didn't do it justice. Maybe if you decide to record the book, I work pick a different narrator. All in all I still love the story, but think it could have been performed better.
I enjoyed this story very much. It states, in parenthesis next to the title, that this is a first volume in a series, therefore I expect the story to continue. As it is a variation, the plot line varies from the original and some of the characters are not true to canon, but that is what I anticipate when purchasing a variation. Darcy and Elizabeth get along quite well, so the angst comes from outside sources. I did not want to turn off the audiobook when I finished my commute to wait and see what happened next. An excellently written book. I enjoyed Nina Price's narration. Each character's voice was recognizable.
Great story but weak ending. Just don't like continuations. (Also narrator sounded like she was drugged. Too slow.) By the way, does anyone have control over Aunt Catherine? !?
I'm a voracious fiction reader/listener but focus mostly on Sci-fi, fantasy (urban and alternate & other world), and romance. A mixture of these is what I love to find. Sci-fi to challenge my mind, fantasy to make me grin, and romance to turn my mind off to.
The story is a good P&P variation, however I could barely stand the narrator. The recording became tolerable at x1.25 speed, but every woman had a wavery falsetto and she couldn't carry a male voice. Mr. Collins honestly sounded like a bad impression of Adam Sandler on SNL. I strongly urge you to listen to the sample before buying. I'm currently debating if I want to go through listening to the sequel or make time to read it the old fashioned way.
