Publisher's summary

When Alexandra's older brother dies the night of his graduation, it changes everything for her. No longer is she the party girl. No longer does she care about being popular, and no longer is her family the happy unit she always thought existed. The only person who can help her heal is the same person who loved her brother as much as she did, his best friend. She only hopes to keep her heart from breaking when Jesse moves on, and she knows he will.

After Ethan dies, Jesse focuses on basketball, partying, and girls. He uses it all to turn his emotions off, but the irony is that Alex is the only person who can do that for him. She helps him forget, but she is the one person he shouldn't be with because the secrets he knows could shatter everything. They could shatter her.

Contains mature themes.

Heartbreaking

If i were alex, in real life, i think i would have committed suicide. How do parents treat their kids that way? Heartbreaking from start to finish.

I couldn't finish

Maybe I am a terrible person for saying this but I can't read a book where the main female character can't put her legs together enough to say "no", when obviously some jerk off needs to go to how to treat a woman university

This book is a hard read. Main character is majorly depressed.

This was a good book, but if you are feeling down, not a good time to read. The lead heroine just keeps getting knocked around by everyone in her life. Still a good book to read.

sigh

it's been awhile since I read the book so I forgot how hard it was. The feels are so much more. The affect that she has got on my nerves in the beginning but it is actually really appropriate for her throughout.

Alot of secrets and sadness

Hmmm, well there are parts to this book that I really like, their parts of this book that are annoying and there are parts of this book that I felt like I just wanted to skim through and get passed. I really like Alex but she really has some issues, she has major trauma and depression from losing her brother and she should be in therapy because seems like she gets panic attacks and zones out alot. Then there’s Jessie who doesn’t seem to want to let go of Ethan, I think he’s hurting so much and I think there’s guilt there but we don’t know the whole story yet so I’ll be curious to find out what that is about. Alex‘s friend Angie got on my nerves so much, constantly getting in the way of her and Jesse, constantly lecturing her, I felt like she was Mrs. Goody two shoes and then her other friend Marissa who is not really a friend because she just kept hitting on every guy that either liked Alex or Alex liked but I do think there’s something there that’s making her act this way too and once again don’t know what that is. Alex‘s parents I don’t even know what to say, it’s unbelievable and leave it at that. I think the chemistry between Alex and Jesse is smoking hot and yes I think they also cling to each other because of losing Ethan. Alex‘s feelings run deep and I suspect Jessies might too but he just doesn’t know how to handle it. I have a feeling that the second book will be revealing much more secrets and I’m hoping a happily ever after for this couple. I enjoyed Jillian as the narrator but I wish there was a male to do Jesse.

Drama and more drama

Wow, I wasn’t sure what to expect with this story and I can’t say that I was disappointed or that I didn’t like it. This was my first Tijan book, and I can honestly say that it’s not what I was expecting. With that being said, I liked it, I just, I don’t know, wanted more. There was so much drama, suspense, and mystery that it was a little suffocating. I wanted more open door love between Jesse and Alex, not even spicy love. Just more of them.

As for the audio, it was good. The voice was perfect for Alex, but I would love for there to be some Jesse perspective. But I guess in order for that to happen the book would have to be edited to add Jesse chapters.

Loved it

Broken and Screwed is one of my favourite Tijan stories, and even better in audio.

I Liked the story but...

Where does Broken and Screwed rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I liked the story, but won't be listening to the second in the series because the narrator was the most annoying i've ever heard.

Conflicted on this one

Idk. Part of me wants to give this book one star because it was messed up, depressing and left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Yet, another part of me wants to give it ten stars because it was beautifully messed up, screwed all to hell, raw and I could not put it down. So, I'm just giving the warning that this is no light hearted romance. It actually could only loosely be called a romance, more a grief driven masochistic obsession.
