Action-packed and fun, but a little too much for me at times

While I enjoyed this action-packed story, there were a few things I did not enjoy. I never really came to like Emily, the main female character. I was really only rooting for her because I liked the main guy and he liked her so there was that. The other thing is that there are several scenes and descriptions of rape and near-rape that I found very disturbing that I think would prove to be triggers for some people so I want to put that caution out there. I listened to this book through Audible Escape; it is possible these scenes were more disturbing in audio form than they would be in print. I did enjoy the depictions of the Bow Street officers, especially the main character Nicholas, and I think that was my favorite part of the story.

Good, clean romance

It was so wonderful to be able to listen to a romance novel with no questionable scenes and in fact with references to God and prayer. It's so hard to find good, clean romances these days that this book was a refreshing change and I would recommend this book to anyone. I'll be looking to read more books by this author.

Awe . . . a real honest to goodness love story!

I did not realize how much I had been missing a real love story without all the graphic sex until I listened to this. Could we have more of books like these? Really, all the sex scenes are getting a little old and it seems like each book must go further - although, I hardly know how that would be possible - I mean the plumbing nearly always works does it not?

Mystery at its Best

This is the first book from this author I have listened to. I could not put it down as I needed to know what was going to happen next.

Just an average story.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, I listen during commute time so even and average story is ok.

Would you be willing to try another book from Michelle Griep? Why or why not?

Probably not...her descriptions were a bit over the top

What aspect of Pam Turlow’s performance would you have changed?

Performance was fine

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Might watch it on DVD.

Romance is dead, at least in this novel.

I've read at least 500 historic romance novels in every subgenre. Mediocre would be a compliment. This is trite/cliche drivel. There is no romance, just a physical attraction, without the benefit of some racy love scenes. It equally fails as a Christian/tame romance. There is nothing particularly likeable about the hero and absolutely nothing redeemable about the heroine. The heroine was so unlikable I actually rooted for the villians. To add insult to injury, the narrator's British accent was atrocious & the heroine's narration was the ultimate slappable Buffy type of a voice.

A great story!

Overall this story was great! The part in the story when an officer get "dressed up", was hilarious!!😂 In some way Emily was annoying, because she didn't just stay put! But big events wouldn't have taken place, if she would have just listened. A fun listen, I enjoyed it!😊

Annoying Heroine & Narrator

The heroine was petulant and spoiled. The narrator was mostly alright the heroine’s voice was shrill. It’s hard to tell how much was the story and how much was the narrator’s emphasis but there were many times/situations that were melodramatic. Maybe it would be better in print so as to avoid the constant grating voice. Near the end, the author comes up with a flimsy excuse for why a certain man rapes women.

Good story with clean story line

Loved this story. Although a couple of minor points made me wonder, for example the heroine is left in the guardianship of a Bow Street Runner, but since her father is in trade, I wondered if that changed the rules for a young lady. the story is good. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Not Worthy

This book is unbearably amateurish. Verrry slow to develope and a silly tale of foolish characters. I listened until I could not bear ro go any further.
