Born In Fire

I can't count the number of times I've read this trilogy, so I was thrilled when I saw it here as an audio book. But so many reviews said the narrator was bad that I put off buying it. I finally gave in & didn't mind his voice at all. Well worth the credit!

Will This Fiery Irish Artist Find Love?

You can be in Claire, Dublin, even Paris, but wherever you go, there you are: your past, your baggage. You can have a picture perfect lover and still not get around the barriers to real love. This is not a confectioner's treat of a novel. Sure it's fun, but it is also touches on some very real issues we all face and deals with them with refreshing grace and clarity.

Good story, but Fast narration

The only thing that I didn’t like, was the narrators fast speed!! He did a good job with most of the voices, however, he spoke so fast that it was hard to follow. I understand that the Irish do speak fast, but it would have been more enjoyable if he could have relaxed a little!!!

not what i have come to expect

Maybe my expectations were too high but i truly didn't enjoy this book as i have the others.

was it the narator, was it the book? I just don't know.

Humourous, but not a book I would recommend to read

Most amazing stories!

I was just telling my wife that I must have just completed listening to this story for at least 10 times. I use them (the whole series), as a palate cleanser after reading "bad" books, as well as just wanting to revisit the characters and the town.
It's an excellent read.

A great start to a brilliant trilogy!!!

I enjoyed this book very much. I have read this trilogy several times and what made this book, and the rest in the series what is the narrator. He was brilliant, I can’t say enough. I read bad reviews about the narrator, but they were so wrong. I highly recommend him. The setting in Ireland is picture perfect, it makes you want to take a trip to Ireland. Nora Roberts wrote a wonderful story, I laughed, cried, and got mad at times. I highly recommend this trilogy.

Story vs narration

I absolutely enjoyed this story. I read it long before I listened to it. I am a die hard NR fan.
I am not, however, a fan of this narrator. He just sounded false with the accent and the emotion of the book was lacking with the way he rushed. It comes off as if he has to meet a timing deadline.
As much as I love the story I regret the purchase due to the narrator alone.

Born in Fire was interesting

What did you love best about Born in Fire?

The story had surprising twists and turns. The author gave you just enough to make you think you knew what would come next and most of the time you did. However, there were surprises which kept the tale interesting.

What did you like best about this story?

The irelish pride and people that you meet in the book

Which character – as performed by Fiacre Douglas – was your favorite?

Margaret Mary

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The problem is that I didn't hear the full tale. Book 1 and Book 2 had the same content. So I only had content through chapter 10.

Any additional comments?

I enjoy Audible books on my way to and from work. I just wish the experience was more predictable.
