Publisher's summary

RITA Award Winner, Best Contemporary Single Title, 2000

When Alessandra Lamont is nearly blown to pieces in a mafia hit, the last thing she wants is to place her trust into the hands of sexy, loose-cannon federal agent Harry O'Dell, who'll do whatever it takes to bring the mob down - even if it means sticking like glue to this blonde bombshell who unwittingly married into it.

She needs him if she wants to stay alive, and he needs her if he is to exact his revenge for the death of his wife and son. But staying alive is nothing next to the explosive attraction that threatens to consume them both - and places them into the greatest danger of all...falling in love.

Excellent narration

Good story. Never got bored. Would like to know that George eventually was happy.

akward early effort

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I am a big fan of Brockmann's other books -- especially the last five or so SEAL Team series. On that basis, I thought I'd try this novel, one of her early (earliest?) efforts. Everybody starts somewhere, after all.

This is not a bad novel, but it is awkward and strained in tone, and the characters are less well rounded than those in later books. The narrator handled all the different regional and social dialects well.

Somehow it just didn't gel for me.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Hmmm. I'd rather see Izzy Zanella on a big screen, I think.

Oldie but Goodie! Surprisingly good book.

This is my first Suzanne Brockmann book. I started it without much expectation, but Brockmann is an author of true skill, with an unique style that I enjoyed more than I expected. I have gotten sick of stories with exaggerated drama and murder plots. However, this was a very good suspense novel with many characters that were interesting. It wasn't forced.
Recommended especially for fans of Linda Howard ,Sandra Brown and JD Robb.

Excellent Story

Well written and a great ending. As always a Brockmann book is worth reading. Worth the money.

Good performance, but predictable

I started with a blonde bombshell, who acted dumb. I finished with a better perception, but not by much. Story was predictable. Harry was just as stupid as Ali

Really good and Enjoyable

I don’t like the crime story books but this was not the usual story. I really enjoyed the story an the sub story. Any book that holds my attention like this one is a must read. Just could not put it down.

Not good but not bad

Would you try another book from Suzanne Brockmann and/or Carrington MacDuffie?

This book was so-so, I will try another of her books. However if it stinks then she's toast in my book.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Really liked the ending, it had a bad start but half-way thru really got into it.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Hated the accents. Harry sounded like a slow-witted jack ass.
