Meet the heiress: She's Haven Travis. Despite her family's money, she refuses to set out on the path they've chosen for her. But when Haven marries a man her family disapproves of, her life is set on a new and dangerous course. Two years later, Haven comes home, determined to guard her heart. And Hardy Cates, a family enemy, is the last person she needs darkening her door or setting her soul on fire.
Watch the sparks fly: filled with Lisa Kleypas' trademark sensuality, filled with characters you love to hate and men you love to love, Blue-Eyed Devil will hold you captive in its storytelling power as the destiny of two people unfolds with every magical word.

"[A] formula-breaking romance that takes on social issues and escalates passion to new heights." (Publishers Weekly)
If you like light and easy romance, then I think you'll like this series. Although each book is complete and not dependent on each other, I would suggest reading them in the order they were written. Start with "Sugar Daddy," then "Blue-Eyed Devil," then "Smooth Taking Stranger." I would have given this book 5 stars, but the narrator just wasn't as good as the first book. But after a few minutes I adjusted to her 5-pack-a-day smoker's voice and it didn't bother me so much and I was able to enjoy the book.
I listened to this book about 10 times and it's great every time.....Smooth Talking Stranger was just as good, but fell in love with Hardy!! Can't wait for Joe's book!!!!
Mom of 2 kids and 3 dogs. I love to escape with an audiobook. I fall asleep at night to an audiobook. Love the sleep timer.
Three stars only because of the narrator, otherwise a 5 star book. I listened to "Smooth Talking Stranger" a year or so ago. I recently discovered the first two of the series. I loved "Sugar Daddy".Both of those books were great and had wonderful narrators. This book however, I could barely finished because of the narrator. Her voice is so wrong for this book. Her voices for the women made them seem old. It wasn't even right for the men, especially Hardy, I was so glad when the book finished and not because of the story.
This is the best of the "Travis family" trilogy. The book was teriffic and I had a hard time putting it down due to the well-developed story and the interesting characters. Narroration was good.
I really enjoyed this book even though it was difficult to listen when Haven was being hurt. However, all the things that happened to her shaped her and made her who she was and made Harley the best match for her. Again, like the other Lisa Kleypas books the characters are very well developed and the story is excellent. I had a hard time cutting this one off I couldn't wait to hear what happened next. This is the second book in the series, make sure you listen in order. This was excellent.
11th/12th Grade Reading Teacher Love reading and love listening to audio books in my car.
I fell in love with Hardy Cates. Who could help it? I found the book intriguing, but the narrator somewhat annoying. Way too gravelly when she did Hardy, who otherwise is every girl's dream. I'm still getting used to "vivid" love scenes coming out of the speakers of my car while I'm driving, but I managed. This was a good "no-brainer" with a very engaging hero.
Well written, fresh dialogue, superior narration!
An interesting book and a very pleasant listen.
I'll look for Kleypas and Raudman again.
The heroine is a depressing basket case, so whiny and weak I found myself wishing I could reach out and slap her myself. And the hero was so angst-ridden he was totally unbelievable. This had the potential to be a good story. But the main character was a total wimp, and the tough guy hero was so tortured that together they would suck the air out of any room. I don't know if they would have come across so pathetic with a different narrator. For this book the voice plus the characters equaled fingernails down a chalkboard. By the time she got some backbone near the end, it was too late, and even with backbone she still sounded like she was on heavy duty tranquilizers. And he became increasingly stupid.
I can usually deal with two or three episodes per book when a character fails say the one thing that would resolve so much conflict, that would make the other characters make more sense, or something that would move the story along. In this book though, I lost track of the times I wanted to shout - "Just spit it out!"
The book actually dealt with a serious subject - spousal abuse and rape. I realize these subjects can't be treated lightly or humorously. But it was hard to work up any empathy, much less sympathy for anyone in this book.
I had already read the book before, which made the hero of this book come across as much more interesting and worth knowing. I had already read the book after this one as well, which includes the main characters of this book. I was looking forward to reading their story. Instead I almost stopped reading this every few pages, but something kept me going. I wish now I had stopped.
I like UF, PRN and historical romances. Some of my favorite authors are Jeaniene Frost, Karen Marie Moning, Richelle Mead, Kim Harrison, Chloe Neil, Lisa Keypads & Julia Quinn. The list keeps growing every day :o)
I had to stop reading to cry a couple of times!!! I was so enthralled by this book it almost felt like it was a real story. Heaven is such a real character and her story is so heartbreaking and ordinary that it made me feel that I was just listening to a friend rather that reading a fictional book. Hardy is PERFECT!! I was a bit disappointed after reading Sugar Daddy and all his background history with Liberty to not end up with her, but now I’m glad he didn’t. He is just what Heaven needed.
The narrator was better that in this book that in Sugar Daddy but I don’t think she is very good with the sex scenes.
Next to Smooth Taking Stranger :) can’t wait!!!!
Read the series! All are hot, sexy with a riveting story line. The women are smart, the men are strong and draw you deep into the storyline. Kleypas' contemporary romances are much better than the historical, but all are worth the time and money. Highly recommend! Narrator enjoyable.
