Publisher's summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts presents the first novel in a compelling trilogy about three brothers bound by fate, blood, and a timeless enemy.

In the town of Hawkins Hollow, it’s called The Seven. Every seven years, on the seventh day of the seventh month, strange things happen. It began when three young boys - Caleb, Fox, and Gage - went on a camping trip to The Pagan Stone...

It is only February, but Caleb Hawkins - descendant of the town founders - has already seen and felt the stirrings of evil. Though he can never forget the beginning of the terror in the woods twenty-one years ago, the signs have never been this strong before. Cal will need the help of his best friends Fox and Gage, but surprisingly he must rely on a stranger as well.

Reporter Quinn Black came to Hawkins Hollow hoping to make its eerie happenings the subject of her new book. She too can see the evil the locals cannot, somehow connecting her to the town - and to Cal. As winter turns to spring, they will shed their inhibitions, surrendering to a desire that will grow and form the cornerstone of a group of men and women bound by the fight against what is to come from out of the darkness…

Loved the book Narration not so much

The story was great, loved every minute of it. The narration needs some work. It would be great if they had and actual female dojng the voices of the women. The narrator sometimes mixed up his voices. I got past that and thoroughly enjoyed the book though.

Bloodstone. Bloodlines. Blood.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. Modern-day supernatural thriller. The night of their 10th birthday, three boys--Cal, Fox, and Gage--swear an oath and mix their blood out in the woods at the mystical Pagan Stone. Unknowingly, they also unleash an ancient demon, who proceeds to terrorize their town, Hawkins Hollow, for 7 nights every 7 years. 21 years later, with yet another Seven approaching, a reported named Quinn Black arrives in the Hollow to interview Cal Hawkins about the town's strange happenings. Soon, Layla Darnell and Cybil Kinski also arrive. Three men. Three women. Powerful connections that may be necessary, especially since the demon is stirring much sooner than ever before.

What did you like best about this story?

The connections between the trio of boys/men featured in this trilogy is great. I like how they vowed to do what was right, even though it wasn't easy.

What about Phil Gigante’s performance did you like?

Good reader. I like how the characters are voiced.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I do like how the guys--after all those years of keeping their secret held close--do trust the women they've just met with that secret and accept that outside help is what's now required.

Any additional comments?

A negative to this trilogy is that each book in it is narrated by a different reader (male, female, male, respectively). Little to no effort was made to keep the "sound" of each character's speech at all consistent from one reader to the next.

I heard demon voices , if it was just me send help

The story was just good enough to make me want to know what happens so I'm sticking this out through all three books. Here's a few thoughts though
1. I heard deacon voices. it only happens like 3 times but it's not Even addressed after it happens so I'm still wondering if it was just in my head
2. The Narrirator changes for book two. if that's bothersome here's my warning.
3. Well really no three just hoping someone tells me I'm not crazy

Great Book, So so performance

The book was terrific. Nora Robert's is one of the best out there. The guy reading it was good with male voices, but all of the females sounded the same. Made it a little confusing at times.

Good characterization

I loved the characters as children; true to nature of boys of 10, yet not stereotypical. I didn't care for how there just happens to be one gal for each guy when they got older nor that it took 21 years for them to get serious relationships.

Some parts dragged on far longer than it should have, but in all, it was fairly good reading. I am buying the rest of the set.
