Publisher's summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts presents the first novel in a compelling trilogy about three brothers bound by fate, blood, and a timeless enemy.

In the town of Hawkins Hollow, it’s called The Seven. Every seven years, on the seventh day of the seventh month, strange things happen. It began when three young boys - Caleb, Fox, and Gage - went on a camping trip to The Pagan Stone...

It is only February, but Caleb Hawkins - descendant of the town founders - has already seen and felt the stirrings of evil. Though he can never forget the beginning of the terror in the woods twenty-one years ago, the signs have never been this strong before. Cal will need the help of his best friends Fox and Gage, but surprisingly he must rely on a stranger as well.

Reporter Quinn Black came to Hawkins Hollow hoping to make its eerie happenings the subject of her new book. She too can see the evil the locals cannot, somehow connecting her to the town - and to Cal. As winter turns to spring, they will shed their inhibitions, surrendering to a desire that will grow and form the cornerstone of a group of men and women bound by the fight against what is to come from out of the darkness…

Kept me on my toes

The plot is complex with some surprises. Kept me on my toes trying to figure out what was next and how to “help”.

Predictable, but really good.

I love Nora Robert's books- I know how the trio of of people get together - that's the predictable part - but the storyline is always interesting. One of those comfort reads.

A book worth listening to!

I am a new member. I normally just read the book - this is my 3rd time "listening" to an audiobook. The reader was great! A little odd to hear a man attempting female voices - kinda like Travolta in the new version of "Hairspray" or Nathan Lane in "Birdcage" - but you get used to it and can easily identify the characters in the story with the changes in his voice. So well in fact, I could just as easily imagine reactions, scenery, character types, etc. Of course, Nora Roberts is an excellent story teller. I can not wait to "read" Book 2 and the coming third book in this series. Okay Audible.com...I'm hooked.

Eager for the next one

I bought this years ago on c.d. After hearing this book I realized that what I had purchased back then was a jumble of all 3 books. It's refreshing to hear it as it was originally written, and I'm eager for more.

Nora Roberts does it again

This story follows Nora Roberts tried and true formula of three men and women meeting up to defeat big baddie, ages old curse, and fall in love. Well this book only two technically fall in love. Great story as usual. The narrator is sometimes annoying, especially when doing the girl's voices.

Very good book

I may be bias because I’m a huge Nora roberts fan, but this book is well worth it. Story line is good and characters are memorable and relatable.

Narrator made the worse female voice!

This narrator makes me cringe! Ugh I wish they would hire female narrators for female characters and male narrators for male characters. I would seriously pay more. This makes a good book bad.

thumbs up

I'm a big fan of Nora's work. this wasn't my favorite but it wasn't bad. It needed a little more umph to the storyline. I'm hoping that the next book has a bigger punch
