Publisher's summary

Ever since he saved Dr. Mackenzie Grant's life, panther, shifter, and sorcerer Kalen Black has had trouble keeping the beautiful doctor out of his thoughts and his heart. The brush with death awakened an intense passion between them - one that for the first time had the notorious loner letting down his guard. With the Alpha Pack battling an evil Fae who is slowly gaining control over Kalen's mind, Kalen can no longer trust his own actions, and he breaks off his affair with Mackenzie in order to keep her safe. But when Mackenzie learns that she is carrying Kalen's child, no amount of danger will keep her away from the man she loves. To be with his mate and unborn child, Kalen will have to unleash the full fury of his power, and risk destroying them all....

Just - OK. Take it or leave it.

J D Tyler did an excellent job showing us a view of the broken mind of Kalen Black.
I did like the book, but there were two things that led me to my decision to say "I could take it or leave it" and give only a 3 star rating.
1. I think the frequent on again, off again, thing with Mac, did too much to take me out of the enjoyable read zone. Between that, and Kalen's "wakeup" ending, I felt the story was a bit flat, felt rushed, and left me frustrated.
2. I found the numerous sex scenes to be irritating, and an interruption, rather than an addition to the story. It seemed J.D. took the lazy way out (imagination, and dreams) rather than developing natural story progressions to sexual scenarios, to keep one engaged with the characters.

Nice Action and Storyline ... Egh..on the girl

If you could sum up Black Moon in three words, what would they be?

Compassion, Action and Emotion! You can't help but feel for Kaylan and his background

Would you recommend Black Moon to your friends? Why or why not?

So I would recommend the story as I am enjoying the series and really connected with Kaylan. But honestly I was not with his mate. Mac was just annoying and must suck as a psychiatrist. She just did not seem to understand Kaylan or what he needed. In every instance of his bad incidents she was the cause. Oh we'll it was a great story minus the self involve woman.... How could she let everyone but him know about her issue with their relationship

What about Kirsten Potter’s performance did you like?

Very nice really brought out the characters

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

You think your family is disfunctional....Try mine

Loved it and at times hated it

This series surprised me. Id been searching for a new one to read and enjoyed each book up to this one. The first two while good stories didn't get to me like this one did. Callen tugs at your heart as you empathize with a young guy who's been severely mistreated abused and abandoned by everyone he's ever known except a grandmother.

There were a few times during the story when I actually wasn't sure he'd be able to overcome the evil trying to corrupt him and subvert him. A few times it was uncomfortable to even read because you could see him making such stupid choices. You wanted to yell at him and tell him to wake up and see what he was doing and look at the consequences of his actions. It made me so mad at one point I almost stopped reading.

I'm glad I didn't. Callen was finally able to over come his struggle and in the end finds what he's been wanting and searching for. A family and place he belongs. But it was a struggle for him to get there and this story kept you on the edge of your seat a few times.

I would be interested to see what becomes of this man and his new found family. I hope the author will revisit him in another book and add to his story.

Worth the read.

Good but nothing magical

I like this series but I agree with others about he book not being great but good. Overall I enjoyed the story but still think it is missing some sort of twist or surprise. I don't know what this might be but maybe it is only good because the outcome seems predictable. All the books seem to be laid out the same. The alpha male denies his attraction to his mate, nearly dies and the they get together to save each other. Having said that it was still a good listen and I would still recommend it to others. I enjoyed the narration and performance. I will continue to follow this series as there are some interesting characters introduced and I think that maybe the story lines will get more complex as the series evolves. I give this book an ok rating but not bad.

Good, but...

Wow, this was like an emotional roller coaster that went off the rails. Perhaps this was the type of reaction the author was going for; and maybe the background of Kalen, as well as the gravity of the situations he and Mac were facing, warranted all the dramatic highs and lows...or maybe that's just the ingredients for a great book!?! :) I'm a huge fan of Potter narration, so anything she's reading I'll give it try. In general i was left with mixed feelings, but, it was overall a good story. You definitely benefit from getting the first two books before getting Black Moon, and they are well worth a credit or two, this last one though I'd wait for a sale.

Enjoyed the entire series

If you could sum up Black Moon in three words, what would they be?

Interesting, Engaging, Thought-Provoking

What did you like best about this story?

I like the entire series

What does Kirsten Potter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her way of spinning the tale through her words and tone of her voice. She makes the story have more depth.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I read so many books that it wasn't to that level but it was one of those great weekend books that you can enjoy on a drive to the coast or sitting on the beach s it is relaxing yet fun which in my world makes it a good book.

Any additional comments?
