Publisher's summary

My name is Ellie Winters, and I'm one of those unfortunate women you hear about on the news - but you never think my fate will ever happen to you. Not that I blame you for believing that. Honestly, I thought the same thing, until I became a statistic, a missing person who was assumed dead. Wrong place, wrong time.

Except I'm not dead. Not yet. I was kidnapped, shackled, beaten, and deprived of the basic necessities, and pretty much left to find a slow, painful demise. I'm hanging on, but just barely. I'm not even sure what I'm waiting for since there's no hope for me, nobody waiting for me. I had finally given up, resigned myself to my inevitable death, when the one man who could make me want to live again finds me more dead than alive. After so many months in captivity, I'm lost, hopelessly damaged. Is it even possible for me to come out of the darkness and into the light again?

Zane Colter challenges me to live again, laugh again, live my life again. But I'm not sure if I'll ever be the same woman I was before I was held captive by a madman. Yet, he doesn't give up, and I couldn't ignore the white-hot passion that sizzled between the two of us.

He's everything I've ever wanted, everything I've always needed.

Tender - but stubborn.

Logical - but understanding.

Sweet - but hot, demanding, and possessive.

As we fall into each other, both hungry for a passion we've never known, I wonder if I can be what Zane needs when I'm struggling to find myself again.

And when I'm finally healed, I'll have a choice to make: Do I try to hang onto him forever, or will letting go be my only option?

Great book and great narration

This book is an erotic romance.

Love the book, so worth it.

Ellie has been kidnapped, beaten, starved and left for dead by the hands of a mad man. The man that took her life, was the same man that tried to kill her best friend, trick her into a marriage and take everything from her. Ellie did what she could for the sake of her best friend, but when an unexpected hero comes to save her in more ways than one, they both have past issues to get over before they can have a future.

Zane has always hid in the shadows of Ellie, giving her time biding his own time till the right moment but when she was taken, he was tied of waiting. He not only is going to be the knight in shining armor he is going to prove that he will never leave her no matter what happens.

Just listen to it!

I'm done. I'm done trying to pick my favorite book by J.S. Scott. Everytime I think her books cannot get any better, they do! Zane and Ellie's story punctuates that fact. Not only does Billionaire Undaunted tug at your emotions and deliver a steamy romance, but it is suspenseful as well. I love it!

Still lovin’ 💗

They still have my interest going. Not only are they sexy and alluring but they have a storyline. I enjoy the way you (the author) are keeping characters intertwined still in some form. Also Ms. Powers narration is Outstanding the way she reads, the ease between one character to another. Please do not change your narrator mid-stem like others. 💗💗💗

Zane is Brilliant!!

This is the ninth book in the series and as usual the author doesn’t disappoint! This is Zane Colter’s book one of the Colter brothers. He’s the brilliant scientist that has been helping to search for his sisters best friend that suddenly one day disappeared. Even when everyone gave up hope. He never did and neither did his sister.
*
Ellie Winters worked for James only a few days when she went missing and left everyone wondering where she could have gone. Why would she just leave and disappear without a trace. She didn’t come from money and working for Chloe’s ex was a job regardless of how horrible he was to work for and she didn’t understand exactly how psychotic the man truly was. However she’d learn all too soon.
*
Zane never stops even after seven months of searching for Ellie and James deciding dying was the way to go before facing charges for what he’s done to Chloe. He leaves a horrifying note confessing he took Ellie and she’ll die before ever being found. With a new determination Zane does everything in his power to find her before that can happen.
*
Zane has always been attracted to Ellie unlike any woman and Ellie has always found him handsome and breathtaking. Once he finds her and saves her from death, he’s not sure he can ever let her go.

The narrator does a wonderful job of telling the story.

Zane & Ellie’s Story About Hope & Healing!

Zane & Ellie’s Story Is About Hope & Healing After Living In Captivity.

This is the ninth book in The Billionaire’s Obsession series. Books one through five are centered around Tampa, Florida. Book six is a bridge between The Sinclairs series and this series, but it also shifts the series to Colorado. Here the series continues in Colorado with Zane Colter and Ellie Winters. Ellie is Chloe Colter’s best friend from childhood. She first appears in book eight in the series, Billionaire Unbound – Chloe’s story.

The Colter family is well-known for their good looks, genius IQ’s, and billionaire status. Widow Aileen Colter runs the family’s Rocky Springs Resort. Her late husband Russell had died in the 1990’s in an incident while traveling in the Middle East. The oldest sibling Marcus took over for his father, overseeing most of the Colter Corporation’s vast holdings and is often away on business. His twin Blake is a US Senator, sometimes referred to as the cowboy senator in reference to his cattle ranch. Zane works as a research doctor in biotechnology out of Denver. Chloe is the baby sister. Nearly thirty, she has just graduated from vet school.

Tate Colter and Lara Bailey find love in Billionaire Untamed. In their suspenseful story, an ex-SEAL meets his match in a tough as nails FBI agent.

Billionaire Unbound is Gabriel Walker and Chloe Colter’s story. It is a best friend’s little sister story with a serious tone. Gabe and Chloe’s story is about surviving and thriving following domestic abuse. Leading into the current book, Chloe’s ex-fiancé is James admits to kidnapping Chloe’s best friend Ellie over six months ago, just before he commits suicide. Ellie’s whereabouts are unknown.

In this book:

This book picks up soon after Gabe and Chloe leave on their honeymoon, which is just over seven months from the beginning of their book – Billionaire Unbound.
Ellie Winters, roughly thirty, comes from a much different background than Chloe Colter, but that didn’t stop the girls from becoming best friends over twenty years ago. They had both been conscious of their curvy figures and insecure in their body image, over which they had bonded. Chloe’s older brother Zane had been a loner, too. He was brilliant but disorganized. Ellie and her organizational skills had come to his rescue more than once in school. She never saw much of him since he left for college, but she has had a secret crush on him for years.

While Ellie was raised in a good family, they never had much money. Her father had died a number of years ago and her mother had remarried and moved to Montana. But when Chloe went away for ten years to pursue her dreams of becoming a vet, Ellie stayed put in Rocky Springs. Without complaint she gave up on the idea of going to college in order to get a job and help support her mother. She doesn’t make a lot, but she is fiercely independent and has never relied upon anyone for help. At Chloe’s insistence, though, she had started a new job working as an office manager for James. Chloe believed that Ellie’s organization skills would relieve some of his stress. It was only one week into the job when Ellie realized that James was the devil, and by then it was too late.

Zane Colter, thirty-two, has always been a science geek. Despite the popularity of his three brothers, Zane went through school as a loner. He is blunt and most of his conversations revolve around complex scientific issues. Small talk just isn’t his thing. He can easily lose himself in his work, and his life outside of his lab reflects that fact. He is an utter slob and has no idea how to cook, but his lab is run in good order. Zane breezed through school and got all sort of degrees, including a medical degree, but his focus is on research. Finding cures and saving lives is his life’s mission. He is CEO of Colter Laboratories and works out of the Denver offices where most of the research takes place.

The success of Zane’s company in combination with his personal wealth mean that despite his nerdy ways, he doesn’t have difficulty attracting the attention of women. But he fears that women want him for the wrong reasons, and experience has made him insecure. There is one woman that has had his attention since high school, but it always seemed wrong to act on his feelings for her since she was his little sister’s best friend. But when Ellie went missing seven months ago, all those concerns went out the door as he turned his focus to finding Ellie and bringing her home.

Zane and Ellie’s story is about picking up the pieces after living in the face of evil. Zane, who lives inside of his bubble, snaps into action when Ellie goes missing. Ellie is kind and sweet, but stubborn when it comes to accepting Zane’s help. She is not afraid to stand up against him and the couple’s banter is fun. They are both laid back and have a great work ethic. It is wonderful to see the geek transform into the hero and the “chubby girl” turn out to be the woman of his dreams. Following several family crises, it wonderful to see the Colter family pull together. They earn a well-deserved happy ending. The epilogue leads into Blake’s story, as Marcus pulls him into a mysterious crisis.

Some details in the series do not line up perfectly from book to book. Here, Tate is once again the youngest brother. Going off of Billionaire Unbound, Ellie disappeared almost immediately after starting her job as James’s office manager the second week of January. Here it states she had only worked a week before being kidnapped. That puts her rescue in mid to late August, but her rescue occurs during a snowstorm and the holidays are looming. Three to four months are thus skipped, which makes following ages a little difficult!

Trying to picture the family and their ages can be tricky. Based on facts pieced together here and in the previous Colter stories, here is a summary of the approximate ages of the Colter kids as this story begins: Marcus and Blake, twins – roughly thirty-four, Zane – thirty-two, Tate – thirty-one, and Chloe, twenty-nine (and a half).

Zane plays hero to Ellie, who miraculously survives seven months of captivity and abuse. Their story is one of hope and healing. It is a light, quick read. The story is well-written and plot-driven. The characters are well-developed given the length. The story is written in third person. The POV alternates between Zane and Ellie, with bits in Gabe, Tate, and Blake’s POV’s. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

As for the Audio: it is well-performed and consistent with the book.

I received an audiobook and am voluntarily leaving a review.
