Publisher's summary

It was supposed to be a fresh start....

Boston is in the rearview mirror, and the McDaniels boys think they've left the ugliness behind along with it. But Reid's got a secret that could tear the brothers apart. And now, to top it off, there's this girl.... Big, sad eyes; chip on her shoulder the size of a Buick. She's in trouble. Hell, she is trouble. And he just can't seem to stop thinking about her.

Former ballerina turned Vegas showgirl Lola Taylor is used to dealing with jerks at her job, but when a handsome stranger saves her from a near tragedy, she can't help but wonder if he's one of the fabled good guys. If so, the last thing he needs is to get caught up with the likes of her. No matter how hard she tries to drive him away, though, he keeps coming back. If she finally breaks down and lets him in, it could destroy her; but with every touch and every smile, her resolve is weakening....

Could Reid McDaniels be that one guy worth risking it all for?

Ahhh the McDaniels Bros...!!!!

Book was ok. I really like Lee Samuel's narrations. The continuation of the boxing component was ok too. Glad there was a story on Teid and Lola. I enjoyed it but the female narration was missing something to me. Overall was fairable enjoyable.

Wow!

The ending was great! Lola & Reed were amazing and real! The narrations were much better in this book. Wish there was a way for us to catch them in future.

Tension Filled!

If you could sum up Between Us: Reid and Lola's Story, The McDaniels Brothers Book Three in three words, what would they be?

Trust Your Heart.

What did you like best about this story?

The underlying innocence behind Reid's actions. It made me want to slap him and hug him at the same time.

What does Summer Morton and Lee Samuels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The emotions behind their words. They weren't just reading them, it felt like they were really feeling the emotions that were on paper.

I'm a newbie on audiobooks, and considering this book, it has been a great experience that I plan to continue. Partly due to the choice in narrators.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending. It was perfect and beautiful and just a little bit sad that Reid was wrong about trusting that woman (not Lola, lol).

Any additional comments?

Out of the three stories, this one was the ‘tamest’, yet it was filled with tension and just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

If you read the previous book, you know that ending was pretty much a killer, lol. I truly couldn’t wait for this book to come out at the time (I read it a while ago, before this audiobook). This story didn’t have the action the previous two books had, yet there was this underlying tension and questions about trust that kept me glued to the story till the very end.

I hated that woman (you know who, she was mentioned in the previous books), and I couldn’t believe her nerve to show up just like that. Gah! In the end, I felt really sad for the guys, particularly for Reid. :-(

Still, in the end, I loved that I got to revisit this story, and the overall series I this format.

What a fun journey. They truly deserved their HEA, all of them.

"Where's the rest of it?"

All the way through this story, I loved it! It was a perfect continuation of previous stories and was shaping up to be a fabulous conclusion to the series. The McDaniels Brothers were going to be all paired up and happy. It met all of those standards swimmingly, and Christine Bell certainly writes a great story.
That said, I got to the end and literally said to myself "Where's the rest of it?" out loud. This story seems to just end. In the previous stories, we got a final chapter from the next brother as a preview of the next story. Obviously, Reid is last, so there isn't another brother, so I didn't expect that kind of a finish. However, I expected something. This story just ends. It's fabulous, and then there needs to be one more chapter because all of this stuff happens to resolve a lot of problems and then that's it. I am hoping Christine is planning for a final novella or something a year later to wrap up the whole series.
I cannot stress enough that this is a fabulous book. Lola and Reid are both amazing characters and their story is completely unique. If you have been reading the previous stories, you will need this book to see the baby brother happy, especially after the end of Matty's story. It's a great story and there are twists all over the place. It is well worth reading. I just hope there is more coming. The entire book was a 6-star book until the last chapter, and then only because there wasn't one.
As for the audiobook, the performers did a great job. They enhance the story in so many ways. The book, while good on its own, is even better with these performers telling it. I have loved the way that each character gets their own voice and their own actor to perform their parts. It really sets each book apart from the previous one and the entire series apart from others I have listened to. I would buy it again, and I will probably read it again.

Not ready to say goodbye to the McDaniels boys...

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl... (yep, it comes up once or twice ;))

It's official--Reid's definitely my favorite of the brothers. As the youngest, he was (only slightly) a little more sheltered from the whacked-out evil witchiness that was their mother, and he's still got enough of that people-are-good-inside vibe going on in him that Lola refers to him as "Boy Scout" (almost a taunt at first, but later with affection). Sigh...he's just so swoon-worthy.

But Lola's got issues. Boy, does she ever. I have to admit, at first I kind of could get where she was coming from, but she held on to the I-can't-ever-get-involved-with-a-man thing way longer than she should have. I mean, really--it's Reid. Obviously the guy's gonna do you right to the absolute best of his ability. Just give in already!

In addition to the Reid-Lola storyline, the McDaniels boys are also gearing up for Bash's big fight that could possibly make or break him, and the major drama that reared its fugly head at the end of book two ( Trust Me: The Complete Box Set: Matty and Kayla's Story - Books 1-3 ) comes back with a vengeance. There's a lot going on here, but Ms. Bell manages to bring it all together and wraps the series up on a good note.

Sigh. I'm going to miss those guys.

Even though this one's the third in the series, I think it could probably work well on its own. Pretty much everything you need to know from the other books (including the shocker at the end of #2) is summarized at some point. Just be warned, though, the glimpses you get of the other brothers and their fiancee/girlfriends will most likely inspire you to increase your TBR by another two books :)

Once again the dual narrators did a great job reading the story in the audiobook version. They really made the first person narrative style of the story come alive, and I have zero complaints for the way they did their jobs.

All together it was an entertaining 7 1/2 hours, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Ms. Bell has in store for us next.

Between Us

What did you like best about Between Us: Reid and Lola's Story, The McDaniels Brothers Book Three? What did you like least?

I liked the relationship between Reid and Lola.

Reid was the good guy, the man you would bring home to meet your parents.

Its an instant attraction story, but the road to HEA is never easy.

Reid had to show Lola she was worthy of love. She had to realize Reid was good for her, he would always support her career and never try to make her give up on her dreams.

I liked the twist in 'Between Us': usually its the female character who has to convince her love interest to give love and relationship a chance, and here it was Reid doing that.

I loved the fact Reid was loyal and protective while also being supportive and in no way stifling. He wanted Lola to grow professionally and was there for her.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I liked the fact in was Reid who had to perused Lola.

I like good heroes and by good I mean men you can rely on. Reid was that. He wasn't the typical manwhore, but instead was respectful to woman.

His answer to Lola's question, about how he cared about his family, the children and women he trained so they protect themself and feel secure was pure Reid. It showed what a beautiful person he is.

Did Between Us: Reid and Lola's Story, The McDaniels Brothers Book Three inspire you to do anything?

The story showed that honesty and communication are important in any relationship.

I read all the books in the series and always admired the fact the McDaniels brothers were a team.

I hated seeing Lola make a connection with Reid's mom. She didnt know the history and had no business projection her own lose on Reid.

I didn't like Reid's decision to conceal their mothers presence in town a secret.
Keeping secrets from the people you love is never a good thing.

Reid knew his mother was no good and would only bring trouble to their lives, but for his peace of mind, he had to help her when he believed she was sick.

As a reader, you might not agree with his decision, but is was well written and fitted Reid as a character.

I liked how at the end, the brothers overcame their mothers re-appearance in their lives. She lost something precious (and not just the money she bet). She lost the only family member left who might have supported her .

A true family stands by you. Bash, Matty and Reid might fight, but they were united when it counted and I loved reading about their HEA.

Any additional comments?

A very satisfying conclusion to the series.

Got to love the McDaniels boys

This book has every thing you could want in a good book . Love at 1st sight,
Hot sex, villain you didn't know was a villain till end, and a hold you breath till the end conclusion. I love this trilogy. Reid is such a good guy. When he goes out for his 21st b day and sees Lola and can't take his eyes off her the rest of the night. When he goes to the bathroom before leaving he hears a woman scream and goes to see what is wrong and Lola is being attacked by a man get the man off her sends her in side and has a talk with the man then take Lola home after that I really don't think Reid's heart ever leaves that house. Lola wants to see the world because her mom never did and never will because she passed away without ever leaving her home town. Hope you enjoy them falling in as much as I did

Reid McDaniels has my heart

This is hands down my favorite of the McDaniels series. Reid stole my heart early on and I kept falling more and more in love with him. He was such an innocent kindhearted man that his brothers thought lost his mind for speaking to Sherry McDaniels. That was just his laid back personality.

Meeting Lola and falling head over heels in love with her was not in the plans either, but hey you can't tell.love what yo do. Those two are my favorite couple from this series and are so perfect for each other in every way.

I admit I was feeling trigger happy towards the end at a certain someone. I was totally shocked at the turn of events, but don't want to give away any secrets. I absolutely loved this book.
