    Story
    "Must love cats"

I love cats, and have volunteered at a cat shelter which were the only reasons I persevered with this story. Unfortunately, I found the reader distracted me. It seemed as though she was on the verge of giggling the whole time; I could picture the rest of her high school class making faces at her and trying to get her to laugh while she struggled to get through the romantic parts.
In regards to the writer, I think she will improve with experience.

Most everything about it will appeal to Tween girls & the narrator is perfect for that audience.

I love action and suspense embedded in a good fantasy or mystery. Sprinkles of romance okay, but no erotica please.

    Story
"A sweet love story for preteens"
    Any additional comments?

This is a delightful romance if you're a preteen. It is a sweet and innocent story narrated by a young lady who sounded like a teenager. I did enjoy hearing about the cats. I just kept having to imagine myself as 13 when it came to buying into the romance between the two adults. I set playback to a higher speed setting to get through it faster.

I do wish Audible books were better rated as to Young Adult or Adult G, PG, R, or X. I end up with more YA or soft-porn books than I'd like. I prefer a strong paranormal plot with lots of tension, action, and yes, a little romance, but generally fast-forward through any sex scenes. Not a problem for this book since it is basically a "G" rated YA book.

I'm rating it as 3 stars -- a compromise between 4 stars as a YA novel and 2 stars as an adult novel.

    Story
"Cat Obsession carried out... (Caution: Spoilers)"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

Yes, sticking more to the story and throwing the ridiculous cat obsession!! Also I would add some more characters! Basically the whole story has 3 characters and very little interaction with the outside world...

Let's face it - Worrying about things like the cats having headaches and being anal about cleaning every scoop every day of the kitty litter were a bit annoying. The young man had an extreme fear of cats but worked off a juvenile sentence in a cats only shelter - really?

Overall the romance story behind the Cat adoption agency was sweet. The young protagonist's handsome hunky dad falls in love with the female story lead... Pretty predictable stuff, pleasant enough but even my youngest daughter thought some of the animal concerns were a little over the top...

Just fyi: We are devoted multi-pet owners and lovers so I feel we are fair enough judges about the realism...

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The thing that kept me until the end was to find out if the couple got back together after a silly breakup...

What three words best describe Deborah Grausman’s performance?

Sounds like a college girl, doesn't do any voice impressions which is fine...

Was Better Than Catnip worth the listening time?

Yes, I guess, I was happy with the way it ended and enjoyed most of it. There were definitely some slow points to get there though...

    Any additional comments?

Animals are wonderful and make our lives complete but when they are valued more than humans the balance of the universe is off. God made man to be over all of the animals - to love them and take care of them but people are much more important not on the same level as I felt this story was trying to convince the reader of.

When we value human life as God intends, we can start to value other animals below us in dominion. We need to stop murdering children in the womb, stop starving people who are terminally ill. Then there may be enough people around for all the pets which irresponsible people are to blame for being out there...
