Publisher's summary

Author of the beloved Half-Moon Hollow series of vampire romances (Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs), Molly Harper has created a standalone paranormal romance in which a dilapidated haunted house could bring star-crossed lovers together - if it doesn’t kill them first!

When Nina Linden is hired to landscape a private island off the New England coast, she sees it as her chance to rebuild her failing business after being cheated by her unscrupulous ex. She never expects that her new client, software mogul Deacon Whitney, would see more in her than just a talented gardener. Deacon has paid top dollar to the crews he’s hired to renovate the desolate Whitney estate - he had to, because the bumps, thumps, and unexplained sightings of ghostly figures in 19th-century dress are driving workers away faster than he can say “Boo.”

But Nina shows no signs of being scared away, even as she experiences some unnerving apparitions herself. And as the two of them work closely together to restore the mansion’s faded glory, Deacon realizes that he’s found someone who doesn’t seem to like his fortune more than himself - while Nina may have finally found the one man she can trust with her bruised and battered heart.

But something on the island doesn’t believe in true love…and if Nina and Deacon can’t figure out how to put these angry spirits to rest, their own love doesn’t stand a ghost of a chance.

I love this story

This a great Paranormal, love story, mystery. It was interesting and well written. Kept me wanting to know what was gonna happen next and who was actually haunting the house and family. Was there a curse? Were ghost in this house? I recommend us read.

Renovating a haunted house can be fun, if you can outlast the ghosts.

Molly Harper has once again written fun and laughter into an adventure.
Deacon seems to be ahead of the family curse and is trying to renovate the 200 year old haunted family home, if they can stay ahead of the ghosts maybe they can unravel the mystery.
Loved it!

Story pretty good, sickly sweet ending.

This Molly Harper story was fairly good, but in my opinion, a bit predictable. The characters are fun, if not a bit like high school students playing grown up. Be prepared for a saccharin ending....as sweet as Southern Sweet Tea. Ugh....😝

Evil spirits or Ghosts?

This is not one of her better stories. There were some things that were not explained. The jewelries location was especially mystifying. There were a lot of characters to keep track of. However, I really did enjoy the story. The interactions between the people were fun. At first, I thought the characters seemed to actively work at ignoring the clues right in front of them. But research does show that people committed to something they believe to be true will ignore all facts to the contrary. So possibly they were more true to life than I'm used to in stories.

Excellent!!

True Molly Harper at its best!
Likable characters, some truly spine chilling moments (especially because I had just moved into a very old house when I read this!!) Some fun snark, and a good nod to the Rhode Island community.

Alright

I really like Molly Harper's books, although I thought this was not the author's best work. It was still entertaining and I enjoyed it. If you like sweet romance with a bit of spice (nothing too graphic) and a dash of the paranormal, you'll like this sort of stuff. Don't expect it to be scary though. It's just a little creepy at times. The non-ghostly troubles were more worrying than the ones from the afterlife.

Funny!

If I see a story written by Molly Harper, I buy it, or at least see if I already have it. Her stories are funny and she always has a great narrator! Definitely a “must listen.”
