Publisher's summary

Author of the beloved Half-Moon Hollow series of vampire romances (Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs), Molly Harper has created a standalone paranormal romance in which a dilapidated haunted house could bring star-crossed lovers together - if it doesn’t kill them first!

When Nina Linden is hired to landscape a private island off the New England coast, she sees it as her chance to rebuild her failing business after being cheated by her unscrupulous ex. She never expects that her new client, software mogul Deacon Whitney, would see more in her than just a talented gardener. Deacon has paid top dollar to the crews he’s hired to renovate the desolate Whitney estate - he had to, because the bumps, thumps, and unexplained sightings of ghostly figures in 19th-century dress are driving workers away faster than he can say “Boo.”

But Nina shows no signs of being scared away, even as she experiences some unnerving apparitions herself. And as the two of them work closely together to restore the mansion’s faded glory, Deacon realizes that he’s found someone who doesn’t seem to like his fortune more than himself - while Nina may have finally found the one man she can trust with her bruised and battered heart.

But something on the island doesn’t believe in true love…and if Nina and Deacon can’t figure out how to put these angry spirits to rest, their own love doesn’t stand a ghost of a chance.

Characters are great, ghosts story not so much.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, The ghost story was sadly predictable but the characters and their interaction still makes it an enjoyable read.

Love Molly Harper

I have listened to all of Molly Harper's other books more than once. I loved all of them and laughed out loud several times. I was really excited to see a new one come out. I liked the book but it did not have the same appeal as her other 15 books I've listened to. Having said that, it is a cute fun story. Easy listening. Amanda Ronconi is one of my favorite narrators.

not her best

the story followed a well worn path with not a lot to recommend it. it had the snark foe which molly Harper is known for which kept the story from being identical to all the others but was actually boring i. spots

Molly Harper! What's not to love?

I truly adore anything by Molly Harper. Seriously, what's not to love? This is another who-dun-it w/mystery, solid characters, a great story build. It'll keep you guessing. If you're into the serious mysteries than this may not be for you. This is a fun read, gal pals, wealthy friends & a past murder or was it? It's spooky but won't keep you up at night. I preordered this & will preorder anything by Molly.

Between the author & narrator you can't go wrong.

I hated that I loved it

Any additional comments?

This book was cheesy, corny, predictable, and annoying at times. It had a great eye-rolling inducing effect.. BUT despite all of that, I could not stop listening. I truly like the characters (most of the time), and the story line was actually very good. So yeah, I begrudgingly loved it.

A great haunting

loved the story and characters were all memorable, have listened to 5 times already a rare thing for murder mystery. The most unforgettable moment is when Jake nearly ends up in bed with a ghost, some really funny and creepy parts. A great narrator who keeps a nice even pace and brings characters to life. I recommend this one to any one who likes a good laugh and a mystery novel.
