But Fate has other plans, and it's not long before Min and Cal are dealing with a jealous ex-boyfriend, Krispy Kremes, a determined psychologist, chaos theory, a mutant cat, Chicken Marsala, and more risky propositions than either of them ever dreamed of, including the biggest gamble of all: real love.

"Hurst's voice contains an energy and exuberance that leaves little doubt that she's the perfect narrator for Crusie's heartfelt comedy of errors....[A] zesty, vibrantly told tale." (Publishers Weekly)
SLow very slow start almost said that's enough, but it really turned around. I really enjoyed this listen. The story line had it's funny really could happen to you moments then it's its a novel momens. You know you wish you could do that in real life moments. Love Elvis. This was worth the beginning. The listen is worth it.
I thought the story was cute, however the author way overuses the word said. It was constantly "he said, she said". It isn't necessary to use the word that much if the voicing is done properly. In fact, most of the time I knew who was speaking without hearing "he said" or "she said" in this book. It got to the point that I was anticipating the name of whoever spoke, then heard the narrator say the name, and would start cracking up. It was distracting.
I enjoyed this book very much. It made me laugh out loud. It was witty and heart-warming. The narrator didn't change her voice much for the characters...but, it's not hard to follow at all.
I enjoyed this book so much, it's the only one I've read more than 10 times already.
It's down to earth, funny, sad, heart warming and I love Elvis Presley and Mickey & Minnie. I want that Snow Globe....
Thanks for the GOOD READ.... I would recomend to everyone who's into romance!!!
Say something about yourself!
A story where the guys make bets on women. Grown adults! How juvenile! I expected to not like it because I had a stereotypical scenario in my mind about how it would play out. As it turned out, I did like how the relationship developed. It wasn't what I had envisioned at all.
There were some very annoying details about the story. The word "said", the doughnuts, and how many times did they eat Emilio's cooking during the course of this one month period? For crying out loud, I don't know anybody who eats out this much, let alone the SAME restaurant over and over again. Despite these annoyances, the story moves along at a comfortable pace, and I enjoyed it more than I expected to.
Funny, entertaining and a classic
The happy ever offers that fit ALL of the characters
She brought real humor and was amazing with the diologe of the book
It made me 'awwww'
This author just can’t write. Characters banter back and forth and you know which character is which based on the conversation BUT the author has to use "Min said", "Calvin said", "David said"...ad nauseam...after each statement. In a 20 minute dialog there must have been 40-60 "insert character name, Said"...just have the conversation already! Two people are talking and I can figure out who is saying what!
There is also a character that just was stupid and could have been written out of the story without any damage done. “Cynth” (every character’s name is shortened into a nick name…geez) is the main character’s ex-girlfriend. She is a psychologist who is writing a book on Love and spends too much time explaining the 4 stages of love and what stage Cal and Min are in. She even shows up in scenes that she shouldn’t be in. What woman shows up at the same event and talks to the new girlfriend's friends about the four stages of love. Unnecessary intruder. It’s like she is placed in a scene just to explain to the reader what stage of love we are witnessing. As if I am too stupid to know this is infatuation, or lust, or courting. She is like a sportscaster whispering during a golf game…annoying!
Don’t waste your credit. If I could get my credit back I would.
All the "he said" & "she said"s are very annoying. Poor writing, lame plot, & boring.
I actually bought copies of this book and sent them around the world to men and women - with the agreement that if they didn't like it, they just returned it to me, but if they liked it, they had to send it to more people. Hundreds of people have read this book because of me - and finally I bought the Audible version, because my tapes and CD's of the book wore out. This is my favorite book to share with women or men, no matter what kind of books they like. And everyone has loved it!
