But Fate has other plans, and it's not long before Min and Cal are dealing with a jealous ex-boyfriend, Krispy Kremes, a determined psychologist, chaos theory, a mutant cat, Chicken Marsala, and more risky propositions than either of them ever dreamed of, including the biggest gamble of all: real love.

"Hurst's voice contains an energy and exuberance that leaves little doubt that she's the perfect narrator for Crusie's heartfelt comedy of errors....[A] zesty, vibrantly told tale." (Publishers Weekly)
This is by far my favorite Jennifer Crusie book and is really truly excellent. You cannot go wrong with this title. Romance, humor, friendship -- it has it all.
I felt as though the narration was very good -- an especially well-matched voice for Min, Bonnie, Liza and Tony. My only very small complaint is that the narrator does not change her voice much for other characters -- sometimes it ends up being a tad monotone. Still, for the excellent job done with Min (one of the main characters) and a pretty good job for Cal (the other main character), you just can't go wrong.
Min Dobbs is a great character -average-looking woman who will never be model material, but has a quick wit and funny, caring personality (Like most of us!). Through a series of bets, insults and set downs, she turns prince charming inside out and makes him see how wonderful they both are. Funny, witty, quick moving with lots of twists and turns. I've listened to it over and over.
I loved this! It was light and cute. Yes, predictable, but I liked the characters and the narrator. Kept me smiling! Not rocket science, but I thought it was worth a listen. Hadn't heard of it or the author before - glad I took a chance. Warning: chick book!!! Don't think guys would probably find it as cute as I did. Cute shoes play a part in the plot - nuff said.
This book always makes me smile. I had actually listened to this audio book a long time ago and always had fond memories of it so it is fantastic to now own it so I can listen to it any time. It's full of wit and romance. Enjoy!
This is a warm fuzzy story. I enjoyed the story, the narrator, and the ending. I recommend this to anyone who like a light, happy story. It has fun voice, funny scenes, and very fun characters. If you're a fan of romance, I think you just might like this story.
I am a real fan of JC's books. She writes fun, smart, interesting, stories with such great dialog. This is one of my favorites. The stories she writes are well worth the investment because they are a great listen more than once. IN fact I think you enjoy them more if you listen more than once. These characters fell in love so lovely. Thank you JC. I appreciate the work you put into your work. I love your stories.
i read this book about a year ago and was delighted to find the audiobook on sale here. Lovable characters, plausible romance, cute conversation... i loved the book and enjoyed the audiobook as well. Jennifer Crusie's best so far! Definitely a good bet
This was a great one from JC! The characters were smart and funny and I especially liked that she focuses on one couple, so I could really get to know the characters and see the arc of their relationship. I know she does mystery/fun caper stories, but I like her best when she hones in on one relationship. Fun, light listen!
I am an avid listener. I listen between 75-100 hours per month on my iPhone: 60% fiction to 40% non-fiction.
You can’t help but immediately like the heroine in this story. This story is all about a bet. In most of the plots using this device, the bet is not exposed until the end and then there is the predictable blow-up. Not here, Min knows about the bet up front, well most of it anyway. Deanna Hurst does a good job narrating the story. One thing that I like about this novel is you connect with the characters pretty quickly and there are six different points of view – good job. This is a pleasant read and worth the time.
