Minerva is my hero

I never write reviews. I just don't see the point most of the time. I love this book though. I love Minerva's character and I understand her fears. I have listened to this book several times over the last few years and I think I will listen to it several more. It makes me laugh out loud and it makes me angry and it makes me hope.

Women are beautiful in all sizes!

Overall I enjoyed this book and I think the narrator did a good job with her variety of voices. I like the build up to the "climactic" scene and the scene itself, and would have enjoyed a little more of the steamy parts.

Leading lady is plus-size and carries all the negativity that she needs to lose weight. Sadly her thoughts ring true with society and what we women think about ourselves (even when we're not plus size), so it's refreshing to have a story about a real-sized woman!!

Sometimes distracted by the over-use of "____ said". There are more ways to say that, like "he snarled", "she huffed", "she snapped", "she sighed", "he echoed"...

So much better than I expected!

I purchased this book during one of the $4.95 sales, and to be honest, I didn't have really high expectations. Well, was I ever surprised. I ended up loving this book; it was great. I mean, lets be honest, the formula is not unique but the characters are rich and full and you really start caring about them. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys chick lit. It won't disappoint.

Loved it!

I loved this! It was light and cute. Yes, predictable, but I liked the characters and the narrator. Kept me smiling! Not rocket science, but I thought it was worth a listen. Hadn't heard of it or the author before - glad I took a chance. Warning: chick book!!! Don't think guys would probably find it as cute as I did. Cute shoes play a part in the plot - nuff said.

Delightful!

If you are looking for a steamy sexy romances this book is not for you. However if you are in the mood for feel good, hilarious romance with quirky side characters, this book is JUST for you. I bought this on sale and was not expecting much. BOY was I wrong. I had a lot of fun, including laughing out loud on a train. The dialougue and the situation got really silly and funny. I must've looked like a maniac. I have to say because I listened to it, hearing "she said," "he said" repeatedly got tiresome and annoying in somepart.

I also have to point out I looked up the receipe for Chicken Marsala after I read this book. I need to cook it at least once!

Frustrating

i loved the narrator, that said, I had a realky hard time listening to this book. There were so many "Min said" and "Cal said" and "Bonnie said" and so on, that i became so frustrated and wanted this story to just be done. if all of that was removed, this would have been a sweet story.

Ignore the Premise and Read It!

Don's let the description put you off what is actually a cute story. This book was suggested to me by a friend and I read the description and thought I would hate it--guy makes a bet that he can date a girl. But I actually thought it was a fun read. All of the characters were different than you would expect and the story was deeper than the impression you get by reading the description. I really enjoyed it. My only criticism is that I wished it hadn't ended so abruptly--and the tacked on 5 years later epilogue didn't help or satisfy.

This book just makes me happy.

Would you consider the audio edition of Bet Me to be better than the print version?

I so enjoyed this book. I've listened to several Jennifer Crusie books and I've enjoyed them all, but this one is my all time favorites. I adore the characters, the banter, the entire story. It is fun, and I have already listened to it twice.
