Look, but don't touch.... She might as well wear a neon sign that says it. It just makes me want her more.

She might be above me in every way, but I still want her under me.

I've got no business touching her rich-girl skin, but that won't stop me from stealing a taste. Because rules were meant to be broken - especially when the prize is so fine. In a world where nothing is as it seems, what's buried beneath these lies?

MM DAZZLED THEN BLEW ME AWAY WITH THIS ONE

I can only confirm what's been said before..... this IS her best one yet. MM is an auto download Author for me - her books are always great listens that have all the ingredients I love in a story with wonderful characters and mind blowing plots. This listen has passion, romance, mystery, suspense, twists, secrets, danger, drama, angst, heat and love as a Judge's Daughter finds herself torn between a Gang Leader and a New Orleans Detective. Valentina prayed for an Alpha to sweep her off her feet - instead she got a hot, demanding, protective, jealous and dangerous Caveman.... and she couldn't of been happier.

If you haven't already found this talented Author yet then be prepared for a mind blowing treat as you get snared up in a tightly woven intricate web where you have to tread carefully as MM takes you on a magical journey that'll surprise, shock, entertain and wow you. Told mainly from Valentina's POV but both the males have their say too. A great pair of narrators who bring the action, passion and characters out from pages in a book and their skills convert them into living breathing individuals, generate mental images and bring forth bitter-sweet emotions.

Worth a credit? YES it definitely would have been as MM is a gifted storyteller.... but it's under $10 so I just bought it saving the credit for a more expensive book.

Stellar!!!!!

Meghan March outdid herself with this tale. It is a gripping story ... not what you expect and totally engaging. The narration was stellar, the story line strong and interesting. The description says it all. There is a twist or two that is unexpected and this is a story that is credit worthy which I am glad to report after a long line of not worthy material over the last month! The hero is an "anti-hero" of sorts, there is a bit of competition from a worthy detective who has a history with the heroine .... and despite her proper, privileged upbringing she is torn between the two strong males. In the end I was not surprised at who she had chosen. The performance by Andi Arndt and Sebastian York is as expected, excellent. Credit or sale worthy!

Conflicted

I'm having a hard time listening to this. I think Valentina is an idiot and she irritates me to no end with the way she is treating Hen... she doesn't deserve a man like him...

I get that there some twist that will all of a sudden make her choice right but until the I'm struggling to get to it.

The ONLY 2 reasons I am still listening is because I love Andy and Sebastian... even though there not enough Sebastian... and the reviews...

I'll edit this is my mind changes at the end but I'm 1/2 way through and I've been irritated the whole time.

Not my fave book in this series so far! I hope Hen let's her ass go because he deserves someone who's truly into him... not this chick who keeps playing games!

UPDATE (Finished)

I'm glad I stuck it out and listened to the end. One of my theories was confirmed and the book wrapped up some what nicely... still a few loose ends like.. what happened to the driver and how did Rex or Rix or however you spell it become the head of an gang?

Valentine got her absolution or justification one guy but the truth it still was nonsense...

The author Meghan March is what turns me off. She wrote this book that she knew or hope would throw the reader off.. Doesn't that mean it would foster discussions and opinions? However if you don't completely agree with Meghan she will delete your comments after she says unflattering things.

No bueno.. grow some backbone...

Solid Story, Series and Narration …..

Gosh, I just can't get enough of this series!

Meghan March is such an amazing author! She really knows how to deliver a captivating story that keeps the listener in suspense while she weaves a plot full of action, steamy romance, and some surprising twists. Each story has a natural flow and transitions smoothly from one scene to the next, making them fun and easy to listen too. The characters have flaws, and their steamy dialogue and chemistry will have you smiling and blushing from the first to the last chapter. Just when you think you've already listened to her best, she goes and writes another five star hit! It's hard to choose a favorite; I love them all!

Beneath These Lies was an awesome love triangle, and I really enjoyed hearing all three POV's.

Andi Arndt and Sabastian York are two of the best narrators! When they narrate, you can feel the emotions and effort they put into the characters and dialogue. They make a great team and really bring the story to life.

Absolutely worth the time, and a credit!

Beneath Lands on Top... as usual

I am a huge fan of Meghan March. This book is a great trifecta of author, story and narrators. You can never go wrong with the York/Arndt combo. It seems that every time I finish a book in the Beneath Series that while I am satisfied with the ending for the hero and heroine of the book, I am always immediately ready for the next peek into the March NOLA Universe she has created through this series. So, please keep writing Ms March. I will keep reading... and listening.

Always love Meghan March's books!

Any additional comments?

Meghan's books are always a good read/listen. Loved the book despite the elephant in the room. Without giving spoilers, would a girl like that really fall for the one she does with what she knew about him at first. Decided to give story a 4 based on that even if I liked it regardless. Loved how it did end up ending, although I was sad for one person. Narration was wonderful as usual. Although I will say Sebastian York is only present for 15 out of 47 chapters so not exactly half. I almost always wish Sebadtian did most of it.

Unfortunately...

I chose this book after reading two others in the series which I really enjoyed. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish this one. I was very bothered by the story line. Perhaps if I had kept reading I would have felt differently but it was so unrealistic and troubling to have a rape survivor, a successful woman attracted to and being involved with the top active gang leader in New Orleans. Really?? I just didn't buy it and on top of that I didn't like the premise no matter how "likeable" the gang leader was written.

Surprisingly Amazing!!!

First I'll say that there are no spoilers in this review. This one was an unusual one for me; I was really irritated with the first half of this book. Wonderfully written and narrated, as always, but I was not happy with the way the author decided to take the story. That is until I intuited where the story was leading, then I found myself going with the flow and thoroughly loving it. I can't say much without giving it away, but this story has levels that makes it exciting, surprising, endearing, and super hot!! Another great addition to this series, and absolutely worth a credit!!

Asking for It

I was extremely disappointed that this book (and most of this series) seems to trivialize the crime of sexual assault, suggesting that female victims were "asking for it" and actually enjoyed being beaten and abused.

In Beneath These Lies, rape survivor Valentina casually allowed a man she only knew as a violent criminal to brutalize her body and mind. Why? Because women secretly want to be dominated and humiliated, not cherished and admired.

Of course in this chauvinistic fantasy, Ricks was portrayed as a sexy alpha, rather than the sleazy jerk who blackmailed Valentina into trading sex for the safe return of her kidnapped employee. Not a romantic hero with integrity and compassion!

There were endless, subtly degrading sex scenes in which Valentina surrendered her body and self-respect to a man who enjoyed hurting and controlling her. I quit listening when she started dreaming about having a future & children with the selfish asshole.

It's a pity that this gifted author is wasting her considerable talent creating novels which feature passive, self-effacing women and arrogant, cold-hearted men.
