Publisher's summary

Of the six Montgomery brothers, Zach has always walked on the wild side. He rocketed to fame playing a hero in a movie, but off screen he’s living in the shadows. Zach’s dark secret: He leads a double life as a CIA operative. When a mission to stalk a terrorist goes horribly wrong, Zach’s cover is blown. He’s on the run and fighting to stay alive long enough to discover whom he can trust - and who betrayed him.

Jenna Walters thought she’d married the perfect man - until she unearthed his terrible secret. Now, desperate to escape his crosshairs, she and her son take refuge in Zach’s secret hideaway. Sparks fly between Zach and Jenna even as danger explodes around them.

From Afghanistan to Turkey to the mountains of Colorado, assassins track them and are closing in. Not only is Zach’s life at stake, but now Jenna and her son are targets in this high-stakes game.

Action packed from beginning to end

My first book from this author and I wasn't disappointed. It had action, suspense, and enough romance without making it cheesy. Onto to the next book in this series.

Wonderful..

Any additional comments?

Loved this book. A lot of the lower reviews didn't like it because it wasn't "believable." Really? Do we really have to have a FICTIONAL mystery/romance NOVEL be believable? If I want believable I'll just pop over to the non-fiction. I know a lot of you don't like the "jumping around" but I do. I get tired of just the hero and heroine being on every single page and reading all about their angsty feelings all the time.
I liked the few minutes of Khalid, that murderous creep. And Farzam, that insane creep. The attempt by the two pilots. The time spent with that killer Brad Walters. All this helped to keep me turning pages to see what would happen next.
All the Montgomery's, Zach, Gabe, Seth, Luke, Jazz, Caleb and Anna were fantastic. And I was so happy for John and Anna, too.
Zach and Jenna were an awesome twosome and I thought Sam acted like any normal 5 year old.
So, I'm off to read Gabe's story, Game of Fear. I know I'll like it as much as I did this one.
Oh, and this had just enough sexual tention and sex to make it a really good read.

As to the narrator: Mr. Podehl did a fantastic job. Not once did I cringe when he did a female's voice. I would definitely listen to him again.

I really enjoy this author, she keeps the story busy with different characters who interact within the story and never boring.

Great Book Under $10

This book is part of a series but can be listened to as a stand alone. The main premise is a bit far fetched-movie star is actually a spy using movie shoots to other countries as cover-but that's why they call it fiction, right? The main female character is on the run from an abusive husband who's also a hit man who found out she had betrayed him to the FBI. She has an adorable son who has the sweetest relationship with the hero-hard to resist a guy who loves your kid. There are quite a number of people after these two both individually and as a couple which makes for fast moving non stop action and lots of explosions! It was nice to see the hero's family again(from previous book) and catch up with them and anticipate whose book will be next. The romance in this is sweet and the h/h have great chemistry and not too graphic sex. If you like romance with a side order of spine tingling suspense and an international cast of bad guys (and some good ones, too) you will enjoy this book.

Nick Podehl was outstanding with the delivery of the story.

Even better then the first one

Here again a great story with well thought out plot. Loved the narrater, and the fact she used someone else for this second in the series. Sometimes you need the same narrator but with this it works. I liked the first book but this one was even better. I don't see a third??? Hope there is a story for each of the four remaining brothers coming soon.

Short, easy listen

This 5 hour book has some action and the threads of the story are interesting in places, but overall, predictable. Guy and girl fall in love (quickly), but can't be together; and then, circumstances force them to weave their way through danger. For those readers who want bedroom scenes, this book might be a disappointment as there are only a one or two.

The 'bad guys' are written with a heavy hand. The author actually uses the words, "pure evil." The 'good guys' are better balanced - lie and kill, but do so for their country, not profit. This line of thought can give a reader something to think about, i.e. is it right to kill for any reason? However, the author does not necessarily intend to lead readers to deeper thinking. This is a fairly shallow story, with fairly shallow characters, but I was ok with that.

Excellent multifaceted storyline!

Really enjoyed this book and so far both books in the series. It's rapid pace and continually developing story line kept me riveted. Couldn't stop until I finished the book. The narrator did an excellent job on the characters, from a small child to a foreign accent, each character was easily distinguishable. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!! Can't wait to read the next in the Montgomery brothers series!!
