Sometimes there are monsters hiding in the people we love. Monsters we don't see until it's too late. As a psychologist to abuse victims, I see the damage those monsters can cause every day and the hell the women go through to regain their lives.
My experiences in life are a double-edged sword. Without them, I wouldn't understand the women who seek my professional help. Having them has ruined me for any woman. I refuse to let history repeat itself. I know the statistics of what should become of me, but I'm fighting the monster inside of me every day.
I can't turn my back on any woman who needs my help, and Dr. Lindsey Perkins is no exception. With an escaped convict she helped put away after her, she needs my protection more than anyone. But when she gets too close, who's going to save her from me?
I've built these walls for a reason. A reason Lindsey is determined to uncover. It's better for her to only know me as Dr. Hatcher, and leave Joseph behind the walls.

Just Another Audiobook Addict! Love listening to all types of romances, but occasionally need a good Sci-Fi, Fantasy, or a book with humor!
Behind His Walls exceeded ALL my expectations! B.L. Mooney did an amazing job developing both the plot, and characters. It was steamy, as much as it was suspenseful, but the emotional element really took me for a ride. I felt every up and down these characters went through.
Dr. Joseph Hatcher is caring psychologist who specializes in helping abused women learn to love themselves, and become stronger. However, there is another side of Joseph, one that prevents him from having a loving committed relationship, but rather one where he has to be in control.
Dr. Lindsey Perkins is a strong psychologist who's fascinated with the criminal mind, and dedicated to helping her patients. When one of her patients is beyond help, she will find herself being the one who needs help.
While Joseph and Lindsey may be colleagues, they are attracted to each other, but keep their relationship on a professional level. Their friendship will be tested, when Joseph insists she stay with him so he can protect her. Lindsey wants to take their relationship to the next level, and pushes Joseph to determine if he has the same feelings, but she'll find herself facing and processing feelings, when Joseph pushes back in his own way. While these two had relationship issues, they did at least act like adults.
Marcio Catalano and Veronica Pace did a fantastic job narrating! I loved the extra effort this duo put into narrating the audio to match the m/f dialogue, instead of narrating just from the m/f POV's. It's rare to come across an audiobook that's narrated in this fashion, so KUDOS! The sound effects for the flashbacks were great, and made it easy to identify these scenes.
I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review, via audiobookBoom dot com, and LOVE It! While there was a slow start, it picked up fairly quickly, and then BAM, it had me totally transfixed on these characters, I couldn't look away if I wanted too. Just Wow! Kudos B.L. Mooney! I'm keeping my eyes open for more audiobooks.
Worth a credit! Yes, most definitely YES.
Lindsey and Joseph are co-workers. Both are psychologists. One working with clients who have experienced abuse, the other concentrating on exploring the minds of criminals. One needs protection from an escaped convict, the other needs to come to terms with an upbringing characterized by abuse. One is looking for a loving, committed relationship, the other learned from an early age that you need to build up walls and refuse to let people in for your own health and safety as much as for theirs.
This has been my third book by B.L. Mooney in recent weeks now, and I've become a big fan of her creative mind. She crafts wonderfully complex main characters, surrounds them with interesting, well-developed side characters and puts them through intriguing storylines that are dark and emotional and combine thrilling suspense with scorching romance.
I loved the way the audiobook was narrated with the female narrator and the male narrator interlacing throughout. The audio production with the sound effects indicating flashback scenes was also really well done. What I was missing, in particular from the male narrator, was the emotions. This was such a highly emotive story, but the delivery was more suited to a news broadcast at times.

I live when a book it's simple buy full of emotions.. the fear of having any of them hurt was a good addition to the story.. the funny parts were just the cherry on top.. I think I'm in love with Joseph.. another book boyfriend.
Mystery, suspense, danger, romance and an emotional roller-coaster ride woven into an entertaining and enjoyable HEA story.
Lindsey Perkins and Joseph Hatcher are both psychologists sharing an office space. Joseph has secretly been in love with Lindsey for a while. Lindsey has secretly been wanting Joseph to see her more than a colleague. When Lindsey's past comes back to haunt her and puts her in danger Joseph is determined to protect her. Bringing them, their secrets and desires together.
If you don’t like sex in your books, this is not the book for you.
Narration- the bad. While the narration for the most part was very enjoyable, it was a bit to monotone at times especially in the beginning . I get that the main characters are psychologists and the tone of the narration fits the part but that flat/soft emotionless tone of narration puts me to sleep. The tone of the narration changed and was more enjoyable after the first hour of the book.
The good - I should point out that the good far out ways the bad. This is the first time I have listened to either Veronica Pace or Marcio Catalano narrate a book. Both have pleasant voices. Great variety of character voices. The narration between them flowed naturally. Love how their narration alternated it sounded just like a normal conversation would sound. The flashback scenes were done perfectly. They both ended up making the story come to life through the narration. Overall very enjoyable narration.

A little confusing in the beginning, needed more background but I liked the two narrators. One for the male parts and one for the female. I really liked the way you were drawn into not only the active dude nice but also the mental. Fallowing Joseph through his issues but Austin still loomed in the background.
Yes. The dialogue between characters was witty, the performance was top notch and dual narrative, and it was sweet, and sexy, with a edging of suspense.
Joseph, his logical and analysts way of thinking was always entertaining.
They played off of each other perfectly. Like any type of acting, a dual joint narration plays better with chemistry between the voice actors, and they definitely had that in spades. I would love to listen to other books with their dual narration in the future.
I was entertained and enraptured throughout the book. I can't pin point a specific time that the story drew an extreme reaction but I did have some surprises and never felt like I was let down.
This was a great book, excellent story, and perfectly done narration, I definitely recommend this audiobook to others. I was gifted this audiobook for free for my unbiased review through audiobook boom.
Enjoy reading fiction, thrillers (JD Robb), romance, military and comedy (Evanovich). Listen to Audiobooks on treadmill and long road trips!
Decent plot, a little slow in parts and wordy, but kept my interest. Narration okay.

It has great potential, the story was definitely interesting. What I liked least was repeating parts and not sticking to the male leads personality that the writer wanted to express. Joseph come a across as a dominate wanna be, but deep down he was just a sweet kind person.
Yes certainly, I think B.L Mooney will one day write a best seller.
Where do I start without sounding awful and mean, I nearly stopped listening around chapter 7. Both so monotone no passion, Veronia did improve as the book went on and she had a great range in voices for her different characters. But Marcio while reading Joseph's was emotionless, no expression to put the listener in the mood. In saying all that I do want to make it clear that he did a great job with the other characters. Maybe Joseph wasn't his cup of tea, in all fairness he (Joseph) didn't know if he wanted to be a dominate or just a sweet nice guy.
Yes, like I mentioned the story has great potential. As for who I envision as the stars, I really have no idea as this audio confused me with the way it come across while listening.
