Publisher's summary

The eldest daughter is often doomed in fairy tales. But Bella - Isabella Beauchamps, daughter of a wealthy merchant - vows to escape the usual pitfalls.

Anxious to avoid the “traditional” path, Bella dons a red cloak and ventures into the forbidden forest to consult with "Granny," the local wisewoman.

But on the way home she's attacked by a wolf - who turns out to be a cursed nobleman! Secluded in his castle, Bella is torn between her family and this strange man who creates marvelous inventions and makes her laugh - when he isn't howling at the moon.

Breaking spells is never easy. But a determined beauty, a wizard (after all, he's only an occasional werewolf) and a little godmotherly interference might just be able to bring about a happy ending.

bit slow

I felt that it was a bit slow over all. Then the jump from "I don't know what I feel" to "I love you and won't live without you" was a bit rushed and forced. Overall a good book but not the best in the series by far.

Great Story

I loved this book. It is probably one of the best ones in the series. So it's a little predictable; but I do love a neat, tidy, happy ending. I wasn't disappointed.

Decent but Obvious Plot

It was a fun book, but just a touch too predictable to be really great.

Book 6 and maybe the best in series

This is the 6th book in the series and I think perhaps my favorite one. The story didn't start slowly like many of the others have and while it was apparent the whole time the answer to the difficulty in the story etc, it was still a fun read. Excellent brain candy and a wonderful narrator.

One of those you read yourself

I won't deny, i did like this book. Out of the physical ones in the series, it's one of the ones I'd consider reading a few times. However, hearing it read just annoyed me from time to time. I think that's the point, as that means the narrator did a job well done at the parts that are indeed annoying, but that just makes it really hard for me to want to listen to it again. I've done this with other audiobooks: the story is great, but hearing it just irks you to kingdom come. You have to read it at your own pace or you get angry too often. It's hard to hear all of that with an audiobook. So yeah, well done, just something I'd only read again.

Uncomfortable Feelings of Crossover

Would you listen to Beauty and the Werewolf again? Why?

Yes. Because I love the series as a whole.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Beauty and the Werewolf?

I'm still in the process of listening to the story but so far it is when Belle discovers the Invisibles can communicate, followed by the music room scene.

Which scene was your favorite?

Having the cameo appearance by Godmother Elena.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The extreme reaction I had to this book was negative and involved having an uncomfortable feeling that Lackey was starting to cross her streams when she started discussing ELEMENTALS as part of the 500 Kingdoms Universe. I really like her Elementals Series, though I must say that I like the 5K series better. I really, really would appreciate them being kept SEPARATE and DISTINCT.

Any additional comments?

Gabra Zackman, per usual, EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE. Thank you!

Another excellent story

I read this when it first came out and remembered enjoying it. When I discovered the audio edition I knew it would be exactly what I needed for a summer road trip.
