Critic reviews

"Possesses humor and a protective male character similar to those of Katie MacAlister. This will likely be a popular series." ( Booklist)

Good story

I loved the story but I do have to say the so called Texas accent was more Georgia than Texas. I know I am born and raised Texan.

Worst Narrator in the business

I could not get through this book because of the ridiculous voices the narrator portrayed. The male voice was like Mickey Mouse from the deep south. How un-sexy! Sorry but I could not judge the story for the horrific narrator.

gave up halfway in disgust

The only thing I can say positive about this story is that the narration was good, and it wasn’t quite awful enough for a single star.

Why would anyone write a story about a woman who repeatedly makes terrible decisions? Her boss and her romantic interest were both exhibiting classic sex trafficker behaviors. UGH. She KNOWS that the proper course of action in order to protect her sister is to clear out IMMEDIATELY. She doesn’t. She’s SO effing stupid. She barely knows the guy and takes pills from his henchman? What an idiot. Why any “clan leader” would be attracted to such a moron is beyond my comprehension. I hated this story.

Simply not entertaining

I want to start by saying this is my type of book. I like these books and I usually enjoy the hot sex, plot twists and funny moments.
Unfortunately, the first five hours had little to no plot development. All the twists came in the last hour. Weak twists with no humor just irritating commentary. The character development was shallow and it was hard to identify with them. The world and its creatures with the intricacies of the relationships was poorly introduced.
The sex scenes were slow to develop and quick to end.
Simply not interesting or exciting. I skipped through several sections hoping it will get better - it didn't even the last 30minutes was choppy and lacking.

Try "dragon bound" if u r looking for a good serier with sex, twists, witty, and entertaining.

Skipped most if it

Honestly, I simply don't understand how anyone could hear the story and believe it is completely fantastic. I should have listened to the other reviews that mentioned a week female lead who hares off after a crazier and dumber sister.

Is this a satire?

I saw some pretty negative comments about this story in the reviews. I do not think the story was promoting male violence as some of the reviews stated. I felt that the story was just ok. I did wonder at times while listening if this was meant to be a spoof of the drama in paranormal romance. The storyline was a little over the top. Some of the key aspects of the character and their backgrounds felt as if my suspension of disbelief was asked to be taken to extreme. I would say if you enjoy just about any book you can get you hands on in the PR section then go ahead and get this book. If your taste are more discerning (as mine are not) then I would save your credits for something else.

Like Nails on a Chalk Board!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The plot was thin and the main characters were completely annoying

What was most disappointing about Jessica Sims’s story?

that I paid for it

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No redeeming qualities! It's a first person narrative with a horrible protagonist who makes every wrong move and decision and not much of interest for the other characters. I forced myself to finish this and just got more angry!

Any additional comments?

What a WASTE
