Publisher's summary

Ember Walsh is a trusting soul with the quiet beauty of her late mother, who perished in a mysterious car crash when Ember was three. A little tomboyish from being raised by her father, Ember packs a punch when a stranger gets pushy with her in a bar, catching the steely blue eyes of a tall, gorgeous tattooed man — Trace Montgomery. Still damaged from her last disastrous relationship and warned off the bad boy by friends, Ember fights the smoldering heat that Trace sparks in her when he begins shadowing her like a dark angel.

Burdened by a lifetime of horror and heartbreak, amateur fighter Trace doesn’t want to want Ember. His deep self-loathing keeps him from having any meaningful relationships, but Ember is an itch he can’t scratch. The two push and pull, slowly crumbling their walls, seemingly brought together by fate, because the turmoil that haunts their pasts is interlinked in undeniable ways. But can these two fighters finally lay down their arms?

In Beautifully Damaged, L.A. Fiore delves into deep scars and lets love and forgiveness uncover redemption.

Love Comes Full Circle

I enjoyed this story. The many twists and subplots kept me on my toes. Can't spoil it for other readers but I really loved the characters and ending.

Excellent

I so enjoyed this book that as soon as I had finished it I downloaded the second one in the series. The narration was excellent. I think I have another favorite author.

It was good.

I thought the story was really good the plot and the details of the story. It was intense and it was also heart wrenching to listen to what happen to Jase and his sister. The courage his mother had to do what she did to safe her children and herself. The overall story was really really good but I felt like somethings were missing. For example, the meeting between Jase and his mother was too short I would have love for them to have had a detailed encounter. It just felt rushed at the end and I get like things were left out. The narrator was ok I'm she was good to an extent I just couldn't get past her voice it wasn't what I expected. I would have enjoyed it more if she wouldn't have sounded like that. But the overall performance was good and very consistent.

I wanted to like it more...

Any additional comments?

I knew it was a romance novel but seriously, I felt like we had to fully experience every sexual encounter the main couple had. It was too much. Towards the end I just started fast forwarding through them.
The narrator sounded breathy throughout the entire book. It started to grate on me.
Overall I thought the plot was great but there was a lot of cheesiness to the story. Getting his name tattooed after a week....come on now.
If I read the next book, I will read and not listen to it. That way I can skim over some of the repetitive sex scenes and get on with the good plot.

Good but wish it was more developed

I am a fan of her books. This one however, was a little all over the place. The first half of the book had structure and it was good. The second half was jumbled. It was hard to follow and had way too much going on. I don’t want to give any spoilers but the past events and the discovery was confusing. Too many characters and honestly I had to keep going back to remember who people were.
I wish she just would’ve simplified and just kept with more of a streamlined story. Also, Trace in the first half of the story was a completely different person than he was in the second half. I wish that would have been a more gradual change but it was just night and day...overnight. I felt like it was two separate books.

tugs at your heart from the start

I loved the book and the deep love and romance between the hero and heroine. it just got a bit confusing with how their lives tangled as children. keeping up with the names and actions seemed a bit much. but bringing back Teaces mom in the end was bitter sweet. nevertheless..... I still love l.a. fiore.

What a Surprise!!!

Where does Beautifully Damaged rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is one of the most exciting and interesting books I've listened. Surprising, romantic, emotional. Exquisite!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Beautifully Damaged?

The plot was so complex. Many side plots and characters making the story so interesting and addictive.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was the one when Amber proposed :-)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes!!! And I almost did ;-)

Any additional comments?

I have bought this book as a romance. I was seeking a nice story with a hot hero and some bad boy actions. What I got was soooo much more. It is truly one of the best books I've listened because of all the extraordinarily balanced drama, crime, romance and action. I'm waiting for the next book from this series.

Could have used my credit for something else

I know I know; there's lots of good reviews for this book but I just couldn't get into it! This is my first negative review and I feel bad about it. I couldn't stand the narrator for THIS particular book. She would've been great in another; but she just didn't do it for me in this one. I almost stopped reading until a friend said "wait for the twist". Waiting, waiting, waiting...there was so much going on with the different side plots that they didn't make sense as a whole later. It's like some of the stuff was just thrown in. there were some good parts but mostly I could've used my credit for something much better.
