Publisher's summary

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sylvia Day comes the first novel in the Crossfire series - a provocative masterstroke of abandon and obsession that redefined the meaning of desire, and became a global phenomenon.

Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness...

He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily...

Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds...and desires.

The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn’t tear us apart...

Unhealthy relationship

If 50 Shades was sex and stupid, this book is sex and drama. Eva would have been better off with a dog that responded to commands instead of a man with a mind of his own. Half way through the book, I didn’t care what happened to the characters. There was too much attention to how perfect people looked, and how perfect their bodies were. Beautiful and rich must be to only things that count. Spoiler alert: Eva wants Gideon to be himself as long as he has the ‘right’ answers or the ‘right’ reactions – she should have given him a script to go by. She forced him into an uncomfortable situation, and was angry when he didn’t respond the way she demanded. She says he can talk when he is ready, and then demands that he tell her everything. She deserted him at a charity function, and was angry that he didn’t stay with her. She ran off and didn’t take his calls, and then wondered why he didn’t try to contact her. She refused to wear an expensive ring he gave her because it reminded her of ‘bondage’ and then turned around and charged an expensive ring for Gideon because it reminded her of ‘bondage’. When Gideon was in the middle of a night terror, Eva woke him in the exact way she explained was the wrong way to wake him, and immediately went into her “it’s all about Eva’ routine” – no comfort for Gideon there. Eva practically says I can’t live without him and why am I here in the same sentence – over and over and over. There is just screaming and crying and then sex. Gideon must be obsessed with Eva because if he was in his right mind, he would have run away as fast as possible. After a while, I felt like I was the one in the bad relationship. Way too much drama for me.

Enjoyable...for the most part.

I would have enjoyed a little more depth to the characters. I'm not certain I'm drawn in enough to continue the series. I'm certain it is not easy to narrate a book going between male and female voices, but the voice Jill used for Gideon was odd at times. Overall I enjoyed the book and felt the narrator did a good job.

Love 50 Shades; You will Luv This Author & Books

Where does Bared to You rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I enjoyed the 1st book so much I had to buy the other 2 books available in the series!

What other book might you compare Bared to You to and why?

More adult version of Twilight,50 Shades of Grey Series, Release Me, Claim Me - Stark Trilogy.

What does Jill Redfield bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

More of a performance and a different perspective. I enjoyed the way Jill expresses the words in the book!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

We all have demons past & present that we never reveal. But what would happen if you fell in love and saw those demons mirrored in each other,so every time you were near one another those private fears & desires became so heavy in the air almost tangible? Could you leave to make it easier or would it be too much to bear without him?

Any additional comments?

Totally worth a credit or a new one to buy, but be careful you will get hooked! I love listening to these stories and wish I could make it mandatory for my man to listen to them as well! LOL

Pretty good

Gideon's voice is so funny to me. I literally laughed out loud.
It's a good story and super sexy. Lots of back and forth and I hope it gets better with murder or some sort of mystery to it.

interesting read

i was a bit taken aback when i realized what the real subject matter of this story was. it is a world i know absolutely nothing about but the author wrote it in such a way that i became interested in the characters and their dysfunctional lives and wanted to know the out come of it. well that didn't happen in this book, realizing it is a series i was of course prompted to obtain the next book which i have yet to read. this one however the author gives you no choice but to purchase the next book if you do as i did and start to care about the characters and wonder if they can work through their problems. if you have a problem reading about sex, or intimate sexual activity between the main characters of a book i highly recommend you do not get this book because there is a whole lot of it, maybe too much in fact, if there could ever be too much?
the narrator also did a very good job in the reading of this story.

My First "Erotica" book-I was not disappointed

This was quite intense, a good plot and hot sex. Some have compared this to 50 Shades which I have not read.
