Wow! Just Wow!

OMG. I hardly know what to say. Of all the hair brained, crazy ideas the main character, Amelia could have!? Oh, what a disaster this could have been. But, wow! It was a suck you in, snatching your attention kind of read. It was like being a fly on the wall. And, while yes Amelia had some rather ...different ideas, she made sense. Her argument had substance. It almost made me think of how well a paper like that would do in a rhetoric class.
What to say without giving away anything? Ok, the characters were great. I liked all of them. Fully developed living, breathing, characters. Ms. Aubrey has a way with words. Loved Beauman as well. Totally know some of those all man gay guys. People stereotype them so much. But, there are plenty of Beaumans out there.
I just loved this book. It was unconventional, witty, well done. Great story. It was a concept that was masterfully crafted to deliver an amazing reading/listening experience.
And, let's not forget the narrator. Wow! Kirsten Leigh does an AMAZINGLY job of making these characters, their story, their anguish, thoughts, feelings just real. She strapped you in the front row and takes you for a ride.

I'm not sure how this book has such a high rating??? It was okay, but definitely nothing special.

was charmed, and entertained!

Would you consider the audio edition of At Any Price to be better than the print version?

I do audiobooks. I have a long commute on the same freeways these characters drive too, and was delighted to hear so much local stuff I could totally identify with. YES, the narration was excellent, too.

What was one of the most memorable moments of At Any Price?

The growth of both main characters and real willingness to open up to one another, in a real way.

Which character – as performed by Kirsten Leigh – was your favorite?

Mia, ie. Amelia. Of course, her best voice.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Adam and Mia, a Geek and Gamers love story.

Any additional comments?

Well written, believable, and wow, so OC centered and real! I really enjoyed it, addicting as these two are.

Don't know where the high marks are coming from

I was so looking forward reading about a woman gamer and found an annoying brat who pretends to be a feminist but turns out to be just another poser who gives women a bad rap.

I tried my best to listen. On the first hour, I was hoping it will get better. The second hour was so painful I had to stop. So here I am writing the review without finishing the book because truly, it is a pathetic story about gamers.

More research please and interviews with real gamers. And please play a video game or join a MMRPG before you write a book about the gaming world.

Very good book!

If you could sum up At Any Price in three words, what would they be?

Very intense, emotional and honorable. The story begins with a young lady who is trying to save her mothers home and put herself through medical school. She is HONORING her mother by taking care of her bills and making sure Mom's stress level is calm so as to not cause a cancer relapse. The EMOTIONAL aspect of this book is expressed through the characters Mia and Adam who meet when he buys her virginity and they embark on a contractual agreement. Adam is a stand up guy despite the fact that he purchased Mia's virtue. He decides that he is going to befriend this girl and help her by saving her virtue and save her from herself. The relationship becomes INTENSE because Mia and Adam fight their feelings for each other.

What did you like best about this story?

Adam! He isn't out for sexual gratification. He is attracted to Mia but he puts her needs first.

Which scene was your favorite?

The one where he and Mia make love for the first time. He swept her away to the carribbean to make it special.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When they confessed there love for each other. That is always awesome. He broke down her emotional walls and they developed a true friendship which is the way it should be. However the relationship was tough to get going because of Mia and her inability to accept that she was falling for him. She was just all about the contract and keeping to the rules of it.

Any additional comments?

I thought I could predict where the story was going but I was pleasantly surprised that I predicted wrong. I have read enough of this genre and the stories are similar subject matter however each story is still different. That is really quite amazing with as many authors out there!

At Any Price

The premise was excellent! I didn't care for the profanity. A profanity here and there can be fine., but this went beyond that; especially with the f bomb and GD! The sex thoughts became tedious.

Stop Shooting A Look!’

So this book wasn’t horrible, and I did finished it, but.. First, the main character, Mia, was so totally annoying and wasn’t even funny. By the end, I just wanted to slap her. Second, this author had a catchphrase that she used the entire book that made me crazy, “he shot her a side glance” and “he looked at her sideways” and “she shot him a look.” OMG, Brenna Aubrey really needs to invest in a good thesaurus! If you have the Romance package, read it. If you’re using a credit, go find something better.

Predictable, but I liked it

The story was good, but it did not draw me to it like some other books. It was predictable, unmemorable, and lacked enough of a story to make the love story suspenseful. I will NOT be purchasing the rest of the books in the series.
