Publisher's summary

As night falls, Claire Roth flees, driven from her home by a fiery threat that seems to come from hell itself. Then, from out of the flames and ash, a vampire warrior emerges. He is Andreas Reichen, her onetime lover, now a stranger consumed by vengeance. Caught in the cross fire, Claire cannot escape his savage fury - or the hunger that plunges her into his world of eternal darkness and unending pleasure. Nothing will stop Andreas from destroying the vampire responsible for slaughtering his Breed brethren...even if he must use his former lover as a pawn in his deadly mission. Blood-bonded to his treacherous adversary, Claire can lead Andreas to the enemy he seeks, but it is a journey fraught with danger - and deep, unbidden desires. For Claire is the one woman Andreas should not crave and the only one he's ever loved. A dangerous seduction begins - one that blurs the lines between predator and prey, and stokes the flames of a white-hot passion that may consume all in its path.

poor narrator

The context of the Midnight breed series is fantastic but the narrator leaves much to be desired. Her voice is so flat and uninteresting it takes away from the storyline.

Narrator leaves a lot to be desired.

Would you try another book from Lara Adrian and/or Hillary Huber?

Lara Adrian, yes. I'm seriously considering skipping the final book in the series. I'm just getting tired of the narrator.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Too many to list.

How could the performance have been better?

I think adding a male for the male characters would be good, as well as replacing Ms. Huber with a female who's voice is not as rough.

more church sex

I mean seriously I'm going to have to find something else to read. the utter disregard and dislike for anything to do with Jesus is ridiculous I mean it's so glaringly obvious it's ridiculous the storyline's very interesting actually it's different but the constant Jesus Christ epithets and ridiculous sex in a church I mean come on dude

Female lead ruined the book

Would you try another book from Lara Adrian and/or Hillary Huber?

I wouldn't say that it is a waste of $ to buy this book, just be prepared for some disappointment. I have listened to all of the previous books in this series and have enjoyed them, but the female lead in this story had me wanting to shut it off before the first chapter. The narrator does a good job with these books, but I feel that the choice of a slightly southern aristocratic tone for Claire left me clenching my teeth. It's frustrating because I was so looking forward to the the male lead's story, I loved him in the previous books.

What could Lara Adrian have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Give the female lead a better brain and more character, have Hillary drop the southern twang.

Any additional comments?

I think that Lara Adrian and Hillary Huber do a great job over all, this book was just not for me. I'm skipping ahead to the next one with fingers crossed.

Disappointed With this Book

Really like the character Andreas Ross, and was excited to hear his book. Was saddened with this installment in this series.

His voice was terrible, hard not to picture some 80 year old geezer. Maybe narrator should try less hard on the accents.

Claire Ross, another sweet clueless woman who continues making stupid decisions and was too naïve and in denial until the end.

I absolutely despise how this is written

I wanted to like this story because I love the male lead. Several times I wanted to stop listening because I HATE how Claire’s character is written, but I don’t want to miss important elements for the next book! Do all the female leads have to be so impetuous, self-absorbed and foolish?
