After a long winter in the remote Teton Mountains, Anna Porter is convinced that she's not cut out for wilderness living. Her heart yearns for a place where she'll feel at home, and she's ready to continue the journey she started a year ago along the Oregon Trail. Without an escort, she may be forced to marry a stranger out of necessity, until the least likely man agrees to accompany her.
Ethan Wilder has spent the last 12 years living with guilt and painful memories. Determined to prevent anyone from getting through his angry exterior, he remains distant and callous, even with those closest to him. When a series of mishaps brings him in close contact with the quiet woman who has spent the winter on his homestead, he believes the only way to get her out of his thoughts is to take her as far away as possible.
The best laid plans don't always work out as expected, as Ethan and Anna soon discover. Traveling to a new land brings two hurt and lonely people together in the most unexpected way. If Anna can chisel through the granite wall Ethan has built around his heart, home might be closer than she ever imagined.

First of all let me say that I had read the first part of this book already (text version) but WOW did Cody Roberts really bring it alive!! He is phenomenal, especially for a western romance. Much better than the voice in my head!
At first maybe you don't like Ethan, or think Anna is weak. Even she thinks that about herself. After a series of mishaps and embarrassing situations, Anna wants to leave. She knows she's missing something, but what? In the valley, despite being with her friends who are as good as family to her, she is lonely. Well... rude, rotten Ethan is tasked with getting her out of there and to a wagon train heading west. I think you know where this is going, but I won't spoil it. It's not just a simple love story, and you will completely change your minds about the characters by the end. There is even some adventure!
Have you read Peggy Henderson's Teton Romance series? (get the audio books!) If so, you will find a little surprise in this book! A question answered, perhaps.
Special guests from other series as well!
I loved this story as I do all of Peggy Henderson's stories. She is a masterful writer with lots of research and lots of adventure and complex things that happen some are very dangerous. This story is the second in this new series of Wilderness Brides. Anna is a friend of Cora and her family that were moving from Ohio to Oregon when her friend Cora finds she has fallen for a man who found them far off the trail and in dangerous territory.
They all ended up staying with Cora's husband's brothers and the man that found them after their parents and little sister were killed by Indians.
Anna is still set on finish the move to Oregon as she doesn't know what else to do with her life and she doesn't feel like she fit in the wild territory they were in in Wyoming or Montana Territory at that time. They were living near the Tetons.
She doesn't get along with the older brother but he ends up taking her to Oregon.
Cody Roberts is a fantastic narrator of audible stories and he and Peggy have a great relationship with her audible stories. He has a smooth voice you want to listen too and does a really good job with all the characters no matter female or male.
He really gives something special to Peggy's stories when he narrates.
I love this audible and I did reading this story.
I encourage you to get this audible and if you haven't already read the book you should get that also.
Another winner by my favorite author and narrator. I love the storyline and the hero and heroine, along with all the secondary characters. Pleasantly surprised by a few of my favorites from past books showing up, just added to the fun and excitement of listening to this audiobook.
Cody Roberts always brings out the best in each character and I love listening to his voice. I know I'm in for an exciting adventure with his narration of any of Peggy L. Henderson's books and this is a favorite.
If you are looking for adventure and romance in the wilderness of The Teton Mountains in the year 1853, than this is the audiobook for you. I also recommend listening to Cora's Pride, the first book in the Wilderness Brides. JudyE
Anna was planning to travel with her friend Cora and family to Oregon, but when they ran into trouble, Cora found her true love and Anna was stuck in the wilds of the Teton mountains. Now part of this new family and yet still feeling alone, Anna decides to continue on to start her own life along with getting away from the eldest brother, Ethan Wilder who only shows contempt and anger in her presence.
Ethan is the eldest Wilder brother and he is not all that happy that his once fairly solitary life has now been changed by a bunch of women and a little boy when his younger brother marries and brings his new bride's family with him. The demons of his past keep him from engaging with anyone but his brothers. That is until he starts to see Anna as much more than one of those "pesky”, invading women. But can he forget his failures of the past so that he has a chance for a better future?
I love Peggy's books! Anna's Heart just continues the genius of Peggy's writing! This second book also brilliantly binds Peggy's 3 series together in common characters from her two other series Yellowstone Romance and Teton Romance while allowing the book to read as a stand-alone one too.
The more books Cody Roberts performs, the better he gets! Cody brings a smooth style as well as captures the characters in a wonderful and believable way. To me, Cody is the voice of these three wonderful series!
This was such a fun story to listen too! Very well written. It was so easy to fall in love with the characters. I would recommend this both to everyone!
I loved this new book in the wilderness brides series. the story was great and it was so much fun that characters and situations from some of the other series made appearances and crossed paths. the narrator is fantastic! he's so easy to listen to and really makes the story come to life. I highly recommend this book as well as all of Peggy's other books and can't wait for the next one to come out!
The reader of Anna's Heart has such a pleasant voice Cody's easily draws you into Peggy's world of mountain men, mountians and as always her intriguing women. Once again Peggy has used her gift of painting with words to paint the landscape, personality and history into her books.
Listening to Ethan be unpeeled layer by layer by Anna was so sweet. This began at the river when Anna was lost. Things are never quite what you except are they, Anna?
After Anna's dress caught on fire.
Sorry Peggy, but I'm ready for the next one. Two thumbs up
What a great story that finally made Ethan human! Of course Cody Robert's narration always makes Ms. Henderson's books a very easy listen. Always nice to have visits from other book characters also. Looking forward to book 3.
Mrs. Henderson did it again! Her stories never fail to be very interesting and captivating. Cody Roberts always does great with the narration. Anna has a wonderful personality and just wants to start her life going on the right track, finally. She waited long enough, now it is time to leave. Will she make it to her destination or will something happen on the trail to prevent her happiness?
I highly recommend this book!
