Publisher's summary

Dr. Angeline Hemming is a beautiful, sassy, no-nonsense type of girl who has risen from a difficult past to become one of Chicago's most successful and respected criminal profilers. In exchange for free commercials to promote her favorite charitable causes, Angel answers calls and gives relationship advice on a Friday night radio program.

Alexander Avery is a gorgeous and successful corporate genius who doesn't believe in love. When his girlfriend-of-convenience calls into Angel's program, he is furious with the show's host who doles out blind advice, without knowing all the facts. He decides to give her a piece of his mind, and his side of the story!

When Angel informs Alex he's the one in need of a much-deserved lesson, all hell breaks loose as these two type-A personalities battle it out for control over minds and hearts, and yes, in bed. Not only are they fighting each other at every turn, but they are also struggling to uphold the convictions they each live by.

It's unclear who is stronger, but both must discover that to get what they desperately want, they may have to give a little...or a lot.

Interesting Narration

I listened to this book SOLELY because it is narrated partially by Zachary Webber...the best voice going. It's an interesting set-up and not so vaguely reminiscent of "50"--down to the clever emails. What could have been a pretty dynamic and powerful book lost it's punch with over the top and WAY TOO MUCH eroticism that all said the same thing. And the continuing descriptions of her "4 inch Prada shoes" or his "Armani suit" or large king bed (I thought all kind beds were large) or Egyptian sheets...come ON. Enough already. I know this formula is designed to give us poor 'wimmen' a tease of the 'other side', but even I got tired of it. And if they referred to each other as the most perfect, the most beautiful, the sexiest, the most WHATEVER one more time, I thought I would hurl. And, the semi-cliff hanger ending of this book is not even addressed at the beginning of the second. yes, I am going to listen to both books just to resolve it but good lord, get on with it. Still...it IS Zachary Webber so that alone is pretty much worth listening to. It's also an interesting narration. More of a play like dialogue rather than a straight narration of boy/girl.

great story

great story and Zachary Webber always makes any story so much more. Unfortunately it would have been better if he had narrated the entire story. Jessie Briar was not right for this story. She sounded so disconnected from the story - like she was just reading some random words on a page. ugh

Had mixed feeling....

The female narrator made the book really hard to want to continue. If it wasn't for the male narrator Zachary whatever I don't even think I want to finish the book. I'm not sure if I really like the book or not because it was hard to get through listening to her. Zachary Weber is an amazing narrator and could definitely save any book!

It was Good

However I believe this is the first time I have not been able to finish a book narrated by Zachary Webber. He was fantastic as usual but the woman, I just couldn’t listen to her anymore. Can’t even really describe why I didn’t like her, her voice just didn’t fit.

Lame, very boring

It had everything to be good but it developed very poorly. Very predictable and I lost interest before the middle of the book.
Will not go to book 2...sorry.

Could not finish due to female narrator

Listened specifically for Zachary Weber and was so disappointed with the style of narration and the lack of Zachary. Female narrator just aweful.

Angel after dark

What did you like best about this story?

"Angel in the Dark" followed the story of Alex and Angel who met in a hardware store. There was instant attraction on both sides but neither did anything about it until fate intervened and threw them together again. This time around there was no denying the chemistry between them.A very HOT novel.

Storyline 👍

I struggled to finish the book because of the narration by Jesse Briar, it was how she narrated. Zachary Webber should have narrated the whole book because it was so choppy, with his silk voice the her voice constantly breaking the moment. I guess it was how it was produced.

FANTASTIC!!!

Angel After Dark is another amazing book from Kahlen Aymes. This book has two strong characters in Dr. Angelina Hemming and Alexander Avery. The narrators in this book are out of this world. It is almost like watching a moving while listening to them narrate the book. You have a male and female narrator so you don't have to listen to a man do the woman's voice and visa versa. Zachary's voice is HOT and he is what I imagined Alex to sound like when I read the book. Jessie has a sweet and sultry voice just like Angel should have.

Alexander Avery is what every woman wants- hot, rich, intelligent alpha male. However, he does not believe in love. He has mutual beneficial relationships for sex and fulfilling social obligations. He didn't think he would want anything more until he met Angel.

Dr. Angeline Hemming is a criminal profiler and she hosts a weekly radio show called Angel After a Dark. Angel was hurt in the past and she keeps men at arms length always wanting to have the control. Angel is put off by Alex's view of relationships and cocky attitude, but can't help but be drawn to him. He is beautiful and her body reacts. The more she's around him, the more she feels she judged him wrong. Angel is afraid of falling hard and getting hurt.

Alex and Angel can't get enough of each other and their chemistry is off the chart. When Angels job put her in danger, Alex is more determined than ever to make her his and keep her safe.

I can't wait to find out what happens in their relationship in Confessions After Dark!

Awful

Even Zachary Webber couldn't salvage this one.

The female narrator's voice and inflection was just awful and I couldn't get past her voice. Combining that with the continual dropping of designer names and attention to posh instead of plot, I had to stop midway.
