Publisher's summary

Diana Gabaldon's immensely popular Outlander saga soars to new heights with this seventh novel, which takes listeners on a breathtaking journey to 1777 America.

Jamie Fraser knows from his time-traveling wife Claire that, no matter how unlikely it seems, America will win the Revolutionary War. But that truth offers little solace, since Jamie realizes he might find himself pointing a weapon directly at his own son - a young officer in the British army.

And Jamie isn't the only one with a tormented soul - for Claire may know who wins the conflict, but she certainly doesn't know whether or not her beloved Jamie survives.

Epic in scope and featuring a colorful cast that includes many legendary figures - including hero-turned-traitor Benedict Arnold and bawdy statesman Benjamin Franklin - An Echo in the Bone is a thrill from start to finish.

Just keeps going.

Following this story has had me engrossed for months. I feel as though I'm part of the family. On to the next book! Can't wait to see what happens. Love the setting during the American revolution.

An Echo in the Bone

I'm about to start on the 8th and last book. But now I feel like slowing down so as not to reach the end.

Too long

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would shorten the book. Good story, but too much detail at points. I don't need to hear the details of the couples' lovemaking over and over.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Shorten it.

Did Davina Porter do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Yes. Excellent expression and tone.

A Superb Continuation Of The Series!

Where does An Echo in the Bone rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Diana Gabaldon is one of my favorite authors and she doesn't disappoint with this book. The Outlander Series is my favorite audio series and I can't wait for the next installment! The story line is extremely creative, intriguing, & romantic, a must listen for anyone who enjoys this an "out of time" story.

Have you listened to any of Davina Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to all of the books in the "Outlander" series and "An Echo In the Bone" is just as good as the other books.

One of my favorites

Yes, there are 7 (as of this writing) other tomes by herself in this grand epoch, not counting all the enthralling side distractions, but this is one of my very favorites in the Outlandish series. I think for no other reason than Jamie's reaction in the last moments of the book that could only be delivered properly by Davina Porter, "Oh? Why?"

I've read this 6 times already so I'm partial

as always Herself does a fantastic job, Davina Porter takes me away with her narrative and I am swept back to Claire's brilliant mind

Bumpy and enjoyable ride but for the finish

Any additional comments?

Davina Porter did another excellent job narrating Diana's book despite the frequent point of view jumps. The jumps between the two times was easier to follow than the jumps between all the characters in J and C's time. Maybe it is easier to follow in the book than it was in audio. Frequently, after pausing the book or when I missed the POV switch I had to back the recording up to get on the right character. Still, this story continues to delight and progress in the series. My main complaint is the way the R and B's story arc was left uncompleted. I'm not surprised Diana chose to leave some drama to draw us back to the next book but it felt like the "plug was pulled" in the middle of their story, so I had to deduct a star for it. Thank goodness I don't have to wait years to move on to the next edition.

YOU HAD ME AT "AN ECHO", SO TO SPEAK!

Omg! I could not put down my phone hardly, from this powerful and compelling epoch story! I expected good things, but was rewarded with a great romance, drama, and suspense. It ties the dangling pieces together. Great Segway from Outlanders season #5! (Sorry...no spoilers). Take A Bow Ms. G! This book delivered.💯💞✍

Exquisite!

Diana never disappoints, love everything about this series! I would recommend the books and the STARZ series to anyone who marvels at history and the possibilities of traveling through time. Enjoy!
