So much detail!
I listened to this audio book during my long commutes to work, picking up my kids and during the holiday travel of 2016. While this book (and really every book since Outlander and DIA) lacked the excitement of battle and mystery, it was very captivating. I found myself slogging through some of the William parts but very much enjoyed the relationship he has with Lord John and eventually, Claire. I was actually a little surprised to have the book end so abruptly. I respect Diana so much for the research that she does and the effort she puts into making all of the tiny pieces fit. If you're from the south, you'll know some of the places in North Carolina that she mentions. It makes all of these unbelievable things seem real when she weaves in actual people and places.

A great story, perfect match of reader to Story
What made the experience of listening to An Echo in the Bone the most enjoyable?
The consistency of the story, the thread of characters and twist through what may or may not have happened in the past. I am really eager for the next book, I would love to see what happens with the little one….. without giving the story line away
What does Davina Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I think the match between the author and Davina is PERFECT. I think it sooo wise to retain Davita, she has so got into the characters, is consistent in tone, un-written interpretations. I love listening to her!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I have listened to this series end to end 3 times now..... yeah, ok I'm an addict.... I really like the story.

Masterful
If you could sum up An Echo in the Bone in three words, what would they be?
Amazing story teller
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jamie Fraser and Claire - they are believable characters in an unordinary situation. Their trials and tribulations are physically painful to the reader, their humour is palpable and their love is all most of us ever dream of.
Have you listened to any of Davina Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have listened to all of the Diana Gabaldon series that Davina has read, and I think that she is amazing! I've listened to some of her other author (readings), and was not quite as impressed.

I have enjoyed this particular series very much. One of the particular aspects I liked was that each book was complete within itself. One did not have to buy the next book to finish the book before it. No cliff hangers. With Echo that fine tradition was stopped.

Fascinating story
I am in love with all characters including Rollo. The account of the warfare is realistic. The dangling storyline keeps you on your toes and ready for the next book.
