Publisher's Summary

Wooing a life mate can be hard enough for a wolf, wooing one while under the threat of a curse even more so.

Wooing a mate while pretending to be her dog? Nearly impossible.

After being drugged and captured by Animal Control, Max Adams is on Hoboken's doggie death row when his life mate adopts him, takes him home, and promptly names him Fluffy. While JC, in all her new-pet-owner-ness, feeds "Fluffy" vile kibble, dresses him in mortifying dog couture, and schedules to have his manhood removed, Max's human side gets to know JC. Especially in the biblical sense.

Hopefully well enough to make her fall madly in love, mate with him under the full moon, and move with him to Cedar Glen to live happily ever after forever and ever amen. And fast.

Because the curse comes with a deadline... and the clock is ticking.

Author Note: Dear Listeners, please note, if you recognize this title, this book, originally published in 2006, is a rerelease and has been updated, revised and expanded.

Love listening to audiobooks, and being swept away by a great story and narrator. It's my therapy, and I need it daily!

"Awesome Story ~ Loved Fluffy....Umm, I Mean Max!"

Recovering from back surgery, I have been listening to so many stories this past week trying to stay sane! I've started many books but actually only finished a few because they are not holding my attention. However, this story was a solid home run with me. It was cute and so funny, it had me laughing out loud... which hurt but I didn't mind.

Poor Max, his life mate journey was much harder than he anticipated when he heads to Hoboken to find his destined mate. He gets caught by animal control and is put on "death row", but his life mate, JC, adopts him just in time. Since shifting in front of everyone is not an option, he pretends to be her adopted dog that she takes home, baths and names Fluffy. However, the next day when she gets home from work, she finds Fluffy has ran away and a hot new guy has moved in the next door apartment, and the sparks fly between them. But by the end of the night when JC is hurt and crying because she cannot find "Fluffy", he can't take the tears so continues to be her pet, and her new boyfriend at the same time. This turns out to be a lot of work for Max and he can barly keep up but it is funny as heck to listen too!

I enjoyed both the story and narration and will continue the series. I've also "wish list" other stories by Dakota.

So worth the time I spent listening to this one but I will admit I bought this story on sell (whispersync.)

    "LOVED IT!!"

OMG...I have wanted to listen to something that author Dakota Cassidy has written for sometime now. I'm truly happy that I was finally able to. Dakota did a fantastic job with this story. I thought it to be brilliantly written. This story has so much detail in it and I LOVED the humor she added. The characters were loveable and I couldn't find even one that I disliked. This story is perfect and everything flowed smoothly.

Hollie Jackson has outdone herself once more and I enjoyed her take on this story. She made the story her own as she narrated this story. Hollie kept me immersed and leaving me breathless throughout the story. I love this genre and between the author and narrator they did a brilliant job bringing life into it. I must say that this has became another favorite story that Hollie narrates. I'm ready to start the second book, its downloaded and awaiting me. I can't wait to start listening to What's New Pussycat. If you love this genre then you have to get this series, Wolf Mates.

    "I'll finish by reading it.."
    Any additional comments?

I should have known when the voices of Dan and Manny, the two from the animal shelter, came about that this narrator was going to suck. She uses her own voice no matter who's talking. They described Max and being as big as big foot but everytime he talked he sounded just like a girl, just like the narrator's voice. I'm only at 22% but I'm done listening to this terrible narrator. I'll just finish it by reading the book. She just ruins it. What a bummer.I looked at the reviews of other books she's narrated and every one of them rave about what a good job she did on Kate's voice, or Kara's or some other female. No one raved about the men because she doesn't attempt to sound like a man. I will never listen to this narrator again. I gave it 3 stars for the story alone. I'll leave my review of the book on Amazon when I finish READING it.

    "Good Hokey Humor"
Would you try another book from Dakota Cassidy and/or Hollie Jackson?

Mixed on both author and reader. It took me 4 tries to listen and I can't get into it. Author has cute dialogue and HJ did some justice, but like another reviewer said, HJ does NO MALE voice at all so you can't get into the story. HJ does have a good cadence for humor, but must work on her male voice.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

the author understands humor and that would have come across much stronger, but same voice pattern for all characters killed it.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Hollie Jackson?

Karen White, Tatiana Sokolov or Angela Dawe

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

You can tell author understands humor IE: title of this story which intrigued me to buy. The first couple of chapters are good, but the reading voice made me stop listening and starting over about 3-4 times. I quit, as I have hundreds of new listens I want to hear.

    "fun read"
Would you listen to An American Werewolf in Hoboken again? Why?

just a cute fun lite read. no serious paranormal stuff and fun giggles to go along. i enjoyed all the accidentally paranormal series and then found this one looking for a new read. found this author by accident when I ran out of Molly Harper books and needed something to get me through my 4-5 hours of drive time. This isn't a hardcore Twilight story which I don't care for.

What do you think your next listen will be?

the next book in the series if they get it on audible

    "Good but..."

I enjoyed the story but could have gone without all the f-bombs and other cursing. I'm no prude, but not sure why some authors feel the need to use such heavy cursing. It does nothing for the story!
I will read the the next book despite it. But I did almost stop listening because of it.

    "More story less sex please"
Would you try another book from Dakota Cassidy and/or Hollie Jackson?

    maybe

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

    characters were interesting

Have you listened to any of Hollie Jackson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    She is great

Did An American Werewolf in Hoboken inspire you to do anything?

Loved the character and the plot

    Any additional comments?

Describing ever tiny detail in sex is really not needed..spend more time on the plot line and the progression of the characters getting to know each other
