Publisher's Summary

*Loyalty… Honor… Dignity…*
Just a few short months after the shifter emergence tensions are already running high. Asked to join Alpha Squad to promote cooperation between shifters and human authorities, Eric King is not convinced of its relevance. Despite suspicion that the Secretary for Shifter Affairs is simply using the Squad as a way to boost his image, Eric's loyalty to the cause will not allow him to say no… But when Janine Williams catches his eye, Eric realizes he has much more pressing issues. How is he supposed to concentrate on his training if his inner bear is insisting he take his squad leader as is his mate?

Given command of Alpha Squad, Major Janine Williams is far from pleased with her orders. Despite knowing that the initiative is just a gimmick, meant to pacify the shifter community, Janine is determined to do her job. Well. But after delving deeper into the strengths of her team, Janine discovers a wild untapped potential lurking beneath the surface. They could find success. As long as everyone works together. As long as she can manage to keep her relationship with Eric, the tough East London bear shifter, strictly professional...

Can Eric and Janine find a way to put aside their doubts and fears of each other? Or will the rising tide of propaganda drown them before they get the chance at a happily ever after?

Join Alpha Squad in this steamy paranormal romance you won't want to put down. If you like Alpha City by Bryce Evans or Bear Patrol by Scarlett Grove, then you will love the Alpha Squad Series by Lorelei Moone!

I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

Fun shifter tale but there wasn't any developing of the players. I never felt I knew either one, although, if I had to choose, I think Eric was developed deeper. Odd being a female narrator. The story was interesting and was low-heat.

The narrator did a believable female portrayal but delivered a pretty bad male interpretation.

One Thumb Up. Not raising it high, though.

    "Quick Listen"

This is another shifter romance from the author. The story was well developed but quirky. Eric and Janine are attracted to each other and Eric knows she is his mate but he is all military and knows he can't force her into a mating. It is funny when they start hearing each other in their minds. I gave the narration a three star because she does not fit the book. Loved the SAS Officer and wolf shifter. I also enjoyed the interaction between Eric and his brother Adam. I got this book via audiobook boom.

    "Well narrated, fun shifter read"

    3.5 Stars

A short, fun listen… the audiobook of Alpha Squad: Boot Camp is an enjoyable listen with great narration.

Alpha Squad: Boot Camp is a shifter romance from an author who does shifters well. You will like the characters, especially Eric and his alpha-male tendencies. The banter between Eric and Janine, who is his mate but isn’t quite on board with that, is fun. When things start to heat up things ignite pretty quickly.

The book is narrated by Audrey Lusk, who does a good job. The narration is clear and concise, the inflection just right. I didn’t particularly enjoy her “male” voice, but I get it is hard to sound like a man when you aren’t one.

An alpha shifter and his reluctant mate are fun way to spend a few hours of listening time!

    "Boot Camp Hanky Panky"

Major Janine is in charge of getting her recruits into top shape. She is human but the majority of her recruits are shifters. While training them, she butts heads with Eric, a bear shifter. He questions her in command and attempts to give her a hard time.

Before we know it, he and she both discover their attraction towards one another. What will happen within their courtship? What will happen during training that may put Eric and his brother in jeopardy? Listen and find out.

Audrey has a beautiful, strong British accent. Her performance is clear. Her diction is spot on.

    "a quick book"

I was gifted this audio ARC from the author/Narrator for a honest and unbiased review.
Lorelei Moone did an alright job with this book. It was a quick listen but I feel it was probably better as an ebook.
Audrey Lusk also did an ok job on the book, but could use some improvement when voicing male characters.
Overall this book is a fun listening

    "Fantastic true love story"

Try to fight it but true love and fate always win. That's certainly the case between Eric and Janis.

Risk and reward, they were drawn to each other. Definitely makes me wonder about the rest of their lives together.

    "Good Book!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Alpha Squad: Boot Camp to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print version but I liked the Audio edition.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Alpha Squad: Boot Camp?

When Janine decided what she was going to do about her orders.

What does Audrey Lusk bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She has a way of making the story come to life.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    When Eric and Janine meet.

I thought that this was a fun and relaxing listen. The narrator did an overall good job and did not take away from the story at all. The character development could have used some more work but all in all the plot, action and even some of the steamy parts were well done and not over done as some tend to do. I love shifters and would definitely recommend this book if you are looking for something to listen to when you just want to kick back and relax.

    "Enjoyable, Easy Listen"

Don't judge a book by it's cover - this one is not as expected. I was expecting an alpha male story about a military shifter male pursuing his squad leader which has a macho main character and lots of sex scenes. This definitely has a more gentle approach!

The story is narrated by a british woman (appropriate since the story takes place in the U.K.) the entire time and it was an overall good performance. Overall, she did a good job narrating but could use some improvement when voicing male characters. The pace and inflections were perfect though.

The story was good, although very much action-based with little-to-no character background and the development was slow. There is a lot of focus on the boot camp itself, and to me it was just supposed to be the setting for the romance. Unfortunately a lot of story time is describing boot camp and the activities and tests the team are put through. The couple doesn't GROW together; rather it's like a switch gets flipped at one point and she goes from keeping him at arm's length to accepting him. I would say this story is less of a romance story and more of a paranormal fiction.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

    Story
"Start to a paranormal series with potential"

In a world where shifters have recently exposed themselves to humans, plans are in place to seamlessly merge the workings and needs of both communities. One such scheme is the newly formed Alpha Squad.

Major Janine Williams is given command over the training of a motley crew of humans and shifters to form the squad. While being given the responsibility to form a well-prepared and trained team, she is also given orders to ensure the squad fails (which instinctively goes against her personal ethics). With politicians and military generals watching her team's progress closely, Janine has to carefully balance what is expected of her with what is expected of the Alpha Squad.

Sounds complicated? Add in a profeasionally ill-timed and inappropriate hot attraction with one of her trainees, Eric King. Out loud he is almost the ideal recruit but he has something others don't. This bear shifter is Janine's true mate, something she, as a human, isn't quite prepared for. That isn't challrlenging enough. Throw in a mysterious voice in her head, and what is a woman to do?

As a one off, this book isn't all that unique. However it is the start of a new series with interesting characters and powerful adversaries and, as such, warmly invites you into its world.
