I read all the Werecats books and, although I got a little frustrated with Faythe at times, it was a series I had to see through to the end. Good storytelling & narration.
Tensions are running high for Faythe and her beaus in Rachel Vincent's sixth and final edition of her shifters series. And let me tell you all hell breaks loose in Alpha. Malone, again finds a way to weasel out of punishment for his crimes, and come out on top... of the council. Marc, and Jace's lives are in the balance, and Faythe is in jeopardy of loosing her claws. The South Central Pride is being backed into a corner and ready to erupt.
Like the title and cover art suggests we follow Faythe in her heart wrenching ascension to alpha. We're also along for her emotional dilemma as she chooses a mate. We are privy to her hard fought and failed attempts to be seen as more than a womb in the male dominated boys club that is the council. And Malone is not making it easy for her, challenging and taking away everything that her father worked for. War is a given, many will die, and the end will come to soon.
My biggest criticism is that even though the story resolved I feel like there is so much more to this world and these characters that can be explored. Faythe may have set into motion a great deal of change, but they have so much possibility for further books. She seems like the best point of view for the political policies that will arise with the first female alpha. It will be interesting to see if Vincent will continue with a spin off with Kaci.
Overall I liked this book it was very entertaining. There was action, surprises, and heartache. Alone it was wonderful, but as part of the series I wasn't satisfied. I found it more of an opening then the ending it was meant to be. It was bittersweet. Good yet unfinished.
I loved the entire Werecats series... even though this didn't end how I wanted it to. Faythe evolved as a character and I will miss her and the whole gang.
Great book, so sorry that this is the end of the series. I am definately going to miss Faythe and the rest of the cats.
The author has a gift for character development and telling an amazing story. However, a majority of the conflicts in the entire series stems from the main character "Faythe's" own immaturity/stupidity. It makes it very hard for me as an individual to truly fall in love with the main character. All that aside, the narration is great and the flow of the book leaves nothing to be desired.
I had to try to listen to this book FIVE times, before I could Finally finish the entire thing! LOVED the rest of the series, but this one was unbelievably bad. Thunder Birds were a Total turnoff. Whole book Dragged along.
this series is very interesting and spellbinding. I was unable to fall asleep during it it kept me awake and my mind active. The writer is very good as her series and I recommend this series to anybody who might be interested. The narration is excellent and I look forward to listening to more books by the same narrator as well as the writer. you must listen to this series at least a chapter at a time. You will find yourself wanting to go on and go on. excellent production.
This was an amazing story and I loved the immersion of the voices. I have been visualizing Malone as Donald Trump, hahahaha! I listened to the story nonstop until the early hours of the morning and after a few hours of sleep I continue listening as I go about through the day.
The main female character was annoying, pathetic, whiny, made the same mistakes over and over. There was just no way to like her at all. I will admit that she did improve a small fraction in the end. But it was to little to late. The series just sucked. The only reason I even read to the end was because I liked 2 of the secondary characters. Nate who gets stupidly killed off and Jace who was a sweetie.
I wouldn't bother wasting your time reading this series.
