Too short

A good beginning but just not enough for me. The story leaves you hanging. I'm not big on stories that end abruptly and then your left with more questions then answers. Also narrative is done too much like the first book making it hard to get into this one as much. Still at end of the day it is a good beginning. Received this book at no charge in exchange for an honest review.

Flapper and Dutch Schultz's Son

June, a prohibition era flapper, is involved with Dutch Schultz's son, but the crime empire is crumbling as is the web of deceit she has used to construct her identity. A fun story set in an era underutilized by historic romance writers.

The hero, JD, in this book is brother to Masie, heroine of book 1. Read in series order.

ALL THAT GLITTERS

This is a good addition to this series. June has a secret that she's afraid of what will happen when and if J.D finds out. Sometimes honestly is the best. This is a great short story with a lot of content in it. Meghan Kelly does a great job narrating this book.

I liked this one even better than the 1st. one.

It made me sad and angry that the secret June carried had to be a secret and that it was considered something bad.

I think I liked book 2 in this series even better than book 1. In this book June, a showy, confident, clubgirl is in love with J.D., the mob bosses son. J.D. Is in love with her too and is risking his father's wrath by declaring that love. June is hiding a huge secret, one that in the time setting of the story could be dangerous for her and ruin her life with J.D. if it's revealed. When the truth is revealed will J.D. still love her, and will he stand up to his father to protect her? I enjoyed this one, the ending is left a little bit open and Id like more of June and J.D.'S story.

Mixed feelings

First off, I'd like to say that I really enjoy the writing and the story that's being told. However, the story once again ends before there is any conclusion at all. For me, I'd like to see the story end but keep the possibility of other stories. I'm also a bit sad that the characters that were focused on this book were different than those that were in the first. I felt that it too ended too abruptly.

I really did enjoy following June's love story. Just because someone comes from a poor life and dates someone who is rich doesn't mean the poor person is a gold digger. This book demonstrates this very well.

If you like really short stories and don't mind one that ends too soon with many unanswered questions, pick this one up. If you don't like having that many unanswered questions, wait until there are more books in the series. The book is well written, it just needed more for me.
