Publisher's summary

Naomi Reese is a divorced mother with a small daughter named Kayla, a new life in Santa Fe, and, finally, some distance from her abusive ex-husband. All she wants now is a home of her own where she and Kayla can finally feel safe. With one bad marriage behind her, she can’t even dream of falling in love again. Until she meets Richard...A tall, handsome veterinarian with a warm smile and big heart, Richard Youngblood is the kind of man any woman could fall for. Not only does he have a wonderful way with animals, he’s great with little Kayla and—Naomi has to admit—he’s easy on the eyes. Richard definitely has his sights set on her, too. But first, Naomi has to free herself from her past—and learn how to love again—before she can have all she ever wanted with the man of her dreams...

Critic reviews

"In All I Ever Wanted Ms. Ray captures a whale of a tale with complex issues and combines those issues with a romance story. This novel is full of graphic drama making the situations more realistic. The plot is intense especially when it comes to character development. Ms. Ray’s novel is very gripping and does not become maudlin or overly grim." (Night Owl Reviews)

Annoying Narration

The book was nice. It was like catching up with old friends. However, the voices the narrator used for the child Kayla was horrible. She made Kayla sound like Lamb Chop (Sherri Lewis' puppet) or a 99 yr old woman. It was annoying. Her portrayal of what Luke Grayson sounded like was almost as bad. Fortunately He's not in the story much.

Just Okay

If you could sum up All I Ever Wanted in three words, what would they be?

Persistence pays off

What was one of the most memorable moments of All I Ever Wanted?

(Spoiler) Towards the end when she was taken from her home. However, I thought that the rescue was a bit rushed and unrealistic.

What three words best describe Gwen Hughes’s voice?

I thought she did a good job with the women's voices, but some of the male characters were a bit creepy.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened to it in one day.

Any additional comments?

Overall, this is a good listen. I've listened to several books, this one just happens not to be one of the best, but good.
