Oh, pluuuuze

Yes, I agree with previous reviews, Simon Prebble is great. However, that is all I agree with them about. The story? "ech." I wanted something light while I did some house/yard work, but that doesn't mean I don't want a worthy plot! But I guess, judging by the amount of books available on AB, that readers like Laurens.

This book has too much sex, and in scenes that last too long. And I can't believe *I* just said that! Ever heard the phrase, "Leave 'em wanting more." Well, this left me wanting it done; subtlety is sexier.

If you cut out all the sex scenes, the book would last about 2 hours. I guess if your spouse is out of town, get the book.

And I really loved the Cynster books - until now

This totally missed reality and deteriorated into nothing but erotica. I don't enjoy erotica. Come on, why would any sane man try so hard not to love his wife. That's just stupid and losing his father in an accident at the kid's age seven is a lame reason for not wanting to love your wife. This is one to skip.

Simon Prebble is great to listen to, but even he couldn't save this.

All About Passion: A Cynster Novel

I'm half way through and still waiting for this to get good. I've listened to Cynster novels before and they are light listening with good romance and an interesting plot..until now. Stephanie Laurens thinks there is something romantic about a man who will screw anything in a skirt without a backwards glance..until he gets married and this is no exception except there is no plot. If you are looking for a book with detailed sex and lots of nonsense in between this book is for you. I will leave work for my 30 minute commute and they are having sex and still having sex when I get home. I already know how this book will end (they are all the same and that's OK) but there is nothing happening in between. Unfortunately, the only meat in this book is his. Incidentally, how could Giles think Francesca is a gypsy when she is living in the house, wearing expensive clothes and riding the horses in the stable. Please!!! Don't waste your time.

I would have rated this a zero if I could

Terrible book! The characters are flat and not at all believable, the plot is predictable and constantly falls flat, and the "passion" is far too geared towards a male predilection for dominance and violent submission. Save your money for something better!

Outstanding Narration

Simon Prebble's narration raises the passion and mystery of all Ms Lauren's book to the highest level of entertainment. His subtle changes of tone and volume make each character recognizable and understandable. I search out his narrations.

Enjoyed it very much

This is the first historical romance I have listened to as it is not usually my favorite genre. However, this book was such a tender, sweet and erotic story I am very glad I took a chance. The story was cute and fun. The narrator was so good, his voice characters were really well done and added so much to the story. I am looking forward to more tittles by this author especially if they are narrated by Simon Prebble.

whats not to love?

What did you love best about All About Passion?

All About Passion is a wonderful fun loving story. Its fun to kknow the twist to the story and watch the characters come to understanding in their humorous, often erotic, way. I adore Stephanie Laurens with Simon Prebble and this one doesn't disappoint.

What other book might you compare All About Passion to and why?

Its a twist on the Cynster series that is remarkably fun. I never can find the perfect book to compare one to since each book has a personality and life of its own... isn't that the whole idea? This is a Stephanie Laurens book that delivers in the way they all do. I reallllly enjoyed this one and its twist was a little more unique to me.

What does Simon Prebble bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Simon Prebble IS the voice and characters of the Cynster books. He makes the story ring of authenticity to each person, situation. ... all. This is one series that needs to be listened to... words on a page without Simon Prebble would not be the same!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I definitely could have.... definitely!

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this book!!

Confused

I sort of liked this story but was confused by Giles. One minute he's brutally telling his wife he won't ever love her and the next he is being nice and *wooing* her. He is confusing but Francesca is just off the charts. Does she have NO sense of herself? Giles treats her like a dog and she just gets mad for about 2 seconds and then invites him to bed.

The *bargin* they make...Giles says he is *invoking* it and Francesca gets all uppity about it but doesn't actually DO ANYTHING. Laurens sets up all this angst but then doesn't actually HAVE any angst or really even any tension between the H/h. Sort of boring.

Then all the sudden they're in love and all is happy. The crazy cousin isn't that exciting.

Unrealistic

I found this mistaken identity scenario very unrealistic. The expectations and assumptions made by the protagonist (Giles) seemed so unbelievable I just couldn't get into the story. Ditched it after about 5 chapters.

Bar Cynster's toughest case

I liked the story and the performance of Simon Prebble does well with the material.
