Yes, I would. The book was well narrated and I felt like I was there with Maritza.
One of the most memorable times was when Maritza first snaps at her kidnapper. She reacted the same as I did as I listened.
Maritza is my favorite character. She's been thrust into a crazy situation, but she still manages to keep her wits about her and is as feisty as I would have been under the strange circumstances.
There wasn't really a part that moved me, but the thought that Maritza was taken to a point in time that made attempting to escape her captors seem pointless really stuck with me. Another part was the last few scenarios Maritza was placed in where her husband felt that it was important to not keep secrets from her, and in the next moment she was placed in a position where she has to keep a secret from him.
I really would like to read/listen to the next book. I'd like to see where things go now that Maritza is married and what happens with the remaining humans.
Rose did a great job on this book, with all the aliens voices and the robots voices were the best I hope there is series in this books future
I feel a lot of the story is improbable. How accepting Maritza was and how fast thing progressed. But I have come to find that what I feel is hardy relevant in an alien abduction story. I read them for the pure fascination of something absurd and sometimes disturbing.
I have read some alien abductions before, so I know how different they are. One or three books wont turn me off the genre.
I think the narrator did an ok job for this book.
I don't know if I would have cut anything out. I might have decided to merge the three books together.
Traveling therapist listening to AUDIBLE books while driving to far areas. Also host/produce radio show on KGLP 91.7 on staying positive!!
Even though she is kidnapped. She likes her alien husband.. The man servant is mean to her. This is the same template as all the other anglo girl get grabbed by alien male.. falls in love but has to help other earth females that have been kidnapped too.. All anglo females.. flip a coin on this one.
My name is Irene and I'm a lifelong bookaholic. A few years ago, I started adding audiobooks and I'm so happy I joined Audible in 2015 :-))
Love Abraham's wildly creative imagination. It can take you to places you've never been before. Be adventurous. Narration works.
This book as a series will absolutely rank in the top five paranormal sci-fi "alien abduction" books. But this book by itself (since it is not complete) is still very good. Just keep in mind that it will be a very quick listen! The narrator Rose does a great job of conveying all the voices but at first I hated her voice the first time I heard it. My advice is if you listen to the entire story she is very good at making you BELIEVE this is the character's voice. She seems to understand the authors writing style and makes the characters believable. I didn't expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. I thought it was going to be boring like the Terra Mates series...but that is just my preference. This book is heavy on "internal dialogue" and low on action/plot development. So if you like the main character you will like this book because you will know at all times what the main character is thinking. So keep that in mind.
Don't want to give anything away. But for me it was the last 30 minutes of the book. It gave a new perspective to the entire plight of the lead character Maritza! Very disturbing but well done and unexpected. Made me look forward to book number two!
All of them were excellent. She figured out a way to make the male lead sound pleasant without sounding overly masculine or girly.
I thought the book was very funny in certain parts. Maritza was a great character who was trying really hard to wrap her head around her crazy situation. As a reader you just wanted to understand more about this new world just like Maritza. So her character was just as curious as you yourself the listener is.
I wish this series was offered as an omnibus. I HATE waiting in between as each audiobook comes out. For everyone who isn't sure about purchasing this book listen to the sample and buy it if you love alien sci-fi type romances. Otherwise you'll feel like you only bought a third of a story and won't want to continue. For me this was a GREAT buy with a AWESOME narrator with a story that kept my interest which I can't say for other audiobooks I've bought that are three times this one's length!
I LOVED the whole idea behind this story, I loved how Maritza held heslef together after waking up in the future & in the company of aliens, yes she did freak out just a little, but what person wouldn't?
Hmmm I don't really like comparing books/ audiobooks with others, it's not really fair.
I thought Rose brought a new depth to Maritza's character, yes she was in a whole new time period & in company of aliens, but she barely freaked out. As I haven't read the book, I can't really say much more.
I did listen to this book in one sitting, it was short enough & kept my attention all through out.
Hmm now I need to know if Maritza finds out the truth for herself, I was left wondering, especially when the book ended & we just heard from the women through the domestic robots.
This is a short story so I have to go in with that in mind. I'm also not a fan of 1st person. It only gives one side of the story or POV. The story was also to short to properly develop the characters, especially the male hero or anti-hero of this story. I wasn't always sure who was calling the shots, the hero or his servant. That all said, the writing itself and the descriptions are very well done. Yamila Abraham can write and writes well. The story is set 2000 thousand years into Earth's future. The hero has struck a deal for earth females for a cure that his race has. He retrieves the heroine from the past, making sure she was someone that wouldn't have an affect on the time line.. She is a prisoner, meant to mate and have children for the hero. The Hero's servant collars her with a forcefield shock collar to keep her in line. There were things I liked and didn't like with this story, but most is because the story is to short. It ends just as it felt like it should be starting. I'm assuming there is another book to continue it as I'd like to see what happens next.Right now the hero doesn't seem interested in love, or what makes her happy. He's interested in Procreating for the survival of his species, which is understandable. I just would have like to see it grow into more, which would have needed a longer book. The book felt like it ended at the start of ACT II.I do fell the author did what she set out to do. She entertained in a short format, and hooked you enough to make you want to see what comes next."This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast."
I really loved the whole concept for this book. The main character is interesting and the narrator really succeeds in giving her a lot of depth. As always, Yamila's books are very gripping and make you excited for more.
When I started this book I wasn't sure what to expect or if I'd even be able to get into it but I kept an open mind and I'm really glad that I did. If I had only read it and not listened to it I don't think I would have enjoyed it for everything that it is but reading and listening it brought a whole new life to the story and I loved it. I have always had a fascination with Aliens and this really appealed to that fascination in every since.
